Hi Kmark.
Welcome to the forum!!
It would depend on what you have in mind for the khUkuri of your choice.
Will really likes his 18" WW II and speaks very highly of it.
I don't have one of that model so can't really say.
The Gelbu Special is very similar to the WW II except the blade is more heavily fullerd.
The GS is a wonderful khukuri.
I have the standard and the Millennium Special which is 21" oal.
They are both good workers!!
The 18" AK is a virtual Workhorse that will do anything you ask of it!!
The blade is thicker and although it is a great chopper the thinner blades will penetrate more and yet the AK will also pry big things out of your way if needed.
I believe that my 18" AK is Still the best knife in the world.
The Ganga Ram I have is also another favorite and though I prefer a big knife over a smaller one you have to draw the line somewhere.
If was gonna be near my mode of transport I would take the GR, but on a trek I would opt for the 18" AK.
I also made a bigger chakma and karda for my AK and wih it I have about anything needed in the way of a knife with little compromise.
I sharpened the chakma to give another ege in the mix per Uncle Bill's advice.
There will be some others along to help you out.
The best thing to do is just buy them both.
You probably will sooner or later anyway.
