Greetings from snowy and icy upstate NY! Several days ago I bought my first ESEE knife which is the HEST model. Hopefully it arrives in the mail any day now, I'm so excited!

Over the year I plan on collecting the entire line of 'em and using a few of them on my camping trips over the summer. I just wanted to make a thread to say hi and to help get my post count up so I can get one of those cool RAT pack numbers and badges :D.

I'm surprised that the Rowen made HESTs haven't sold out yet. Congrats on the new knife and welcome to the addiction/insanity!

Welcome and congrats on your new blade. Enjoy your new knife and have fun collecting the entire line...
May i suggest the 6 as your next it is a fine knife, looks big but handles EXCELLENT:thumbup::thumbup:.

Thanks guys! Yeah I bought the HEST on Ebay from a reputable dealer. IIRC he has 9 or 10 of them left and he also sells several other ESEE knives.

I was thinking of either the Junglas or the 4 in DT as my next purchase. I haven't looked into the 6 much but I will now. Thanks!

Antrieb,

Glad to have you with us. The HEST is a nice little knife. As to your second, may I recommend the ESEE-4. I hear from a lot of people how fun the Junglas is but how little time it tends to spend really working (but trust me I understand the temptation to indulge.) I strongly recommend a 4 with a pair of Dale's Scales.

God bless,

Hi, and it sounds like you have a good plan!

I'm new as well, and plan on getting the whole ESEE line as well. They're great knives!

those are made out of g10 from the knife connection, and welcome to the forum

Welcome aboard! For me it also all started with the HEST, then about a week later got a 3-MIL, and will be getting an Izula, and a 5 soon.

Damn all you Enablers on this Forum....;-)

New here as well. Introduced myself to ESEE by purchasing the 6 about a week or two ago. Great knife, handles most if not all of my outdoor needs.

This is definitely the place to come to for advice if you can't figure out whether you need to buy a knife or not :)

I got an RC-3MIL and RC-4 in the Spring of '09 I think.....around the time I joined the forum here. Wasn't able to make any new purchases until Dec. 10 but I got my serrated ESEE-3MIL, HEST, Izula I (3 or 4) and Izula II.

I then picked up the 5 and 6 along with extra sheaths/pouches after sticking around on this forum for a while. Definitely glad I did, but only have $10 until payday!!!! Don't have any credit cards, so I'll be scrounging for food. I might have to pull a Dale Gribble and do some Urban Hunting and get groceries from people unloading/loading their cars!

Welcome to the wallet-draining madness here. I'm relatively new here too, and my wallet is already lighter than I'd like ;)
I second the motion for the RC6.
Paired with your HEST, you've got coverage on everything from EDC to bushcraft to fighting blades and improvised spears. Not necessarily heavy wood processing or brush clearing (or zombies), but just about everything else is locked down tight for you there.
Regardless of what you buy next, use it. You'll not regret it soon.

Thanks for the second recommendation on the 6. Maybe I'll go for that one next, you have some great points.

No worries on the zombies... I have an 870 12 gauge with plenty of 00 buckshot :).
