Very nice little HI JKM-1 with Chandan handle and pouch sheath. 8 inches and 6 oz. by Kami Kumar. Super clean, unused, carried or sharpened.

Sweet little rig, and if I didn't have 4 others I'd be all over it! :D
SOLD shipped anywhere in the CONUS.

PayPal or USPS Money Order please.

Thanks for looking!

what's the thickness on this one?How about blade length and handle length. I'm interested if it's not too small.

What is a DOD item? and why does it matter?

DoD or DotD stands for Deal of the Day -- special items and blems are offered, often at a discount, on the HI Forums.

As to why it matters: It doesn't. Not sure why Dave wants to know.

Thanks kazeryu, I had guessed that might be it. :D

Dave,

90% of the items I have for sale from my personal collection are DOTD items. As Leatherman and Kazeryu point out, that is really irrelevant. I learned after 4 months and several thousand dollars, that I was being impatient and foolish ordering _exclusively_ from the web site, and if I took my time and waited patiently for the DOTD I could save quite a bit of $. Uncle Bill actually counseled me to be patient and get what I really wanted, as I was frantic to get one of everything he had. (Severe HIKV; I'm completely cured now though... )

I almost always take a loss on DOTD resells. I can't compete with HI's volume on price, and I want to pay shipping as Yangdu does. Over time most HI knives have also gotten cheaper as their supplies have increased. JKM's sold for $60 at one time.

I think you might be asking if it is a blem? No. Most DOTD are actually not blems, and if there was anything wrong with it I would have specified it. In fact, I have never sold a knife bought as a blem. I only buy those when it is something simple I can fix myself and then I want it so badly I keep it.

Andy, the specs on the knife are a blade length of 4.75", with a 5/8" ricasso resulting in 4.125" of usable blade. Lots of the guys have ground out a nice choil in this area, gives you a place for your index finger and which adds a lot to the knife. I am doing that on one of mine.

The handle is 3.125" long. I have big hands, and either tuck my little finger behind the pommel, with thumb on tob of the spine, or palm it and run my index finger along the spine. Seriously that has not been a problem for me. Adding thumb grooves in the spine would be a nice touch. For the price there is a lot you could do to personalize it. It's meant to be a small, strong portable knife.

The blade at its widest point is 1.11" wide. The thickness varies from .225 on the spine just above the ricasso, down to .150 just before the tip bevel.

Norm,

I appreciate the info, but I am going to pass. I was looking for a little larger handle length. Good luck with your sale.

No problem Andy! I am posting some Kumar Kardas today that might be more of what you are looking for, including a couple of nice carved ones. (?) The handles on those are usually about 4.5 inches as I recall. Look for the thread soon.

Thanks,

Norm

Just curious about this being a DOD. No more, no less. I was not asking or implying that it is a blem, either. My reasons are my own.

No problem Dave.

Come to think of it, I'd guess that most everything I have for sale on the Exchange right now (except for two Kumar Kardas), were all from Deals of the Day at one time or another. If you search you can probably find them in the archives with Yangdu or Uncle Bill's original descriptions of them.

Regards,

Norm
