Well I got a suprise in the mail today. I sent it to Dan Koster for a convex edge and satin finish. Checking Dans site it still said "new order" so I wasn't expecting to get it.

The edge is really sharp and Dan tapered the tip as well. I took it out in the yard and did a little chopping and limbed some small branches.

I had Dan put some little notches on the blade, thought it would look nice. The ricasso was really large, over an inch originally. In the convexing process some of the makers signature got ground off, but this is a user for me so I don't mind.

Dan is the man when it comes to refurbishing knives. When I had him do some work for my groomsmens' presents I had to present the knives to them one at a time. Before I would turn it over to them I would say, "These were sharpened by one of the best in the business. I can guarantee you that this the sharpest knife that you will ever own. Please be careful, and don't cut your fingers off until after my wedding day.":D
Dan makes a mean ulu too;)

Great mod on a great user:thumbup: Lucky dog!:)

Thanks for posting a review - just now found it. :o

The blade has a full-flat grind, down to fairly decent edge. I worry about taking it too thin...not knowing the heat-treat...but this one did great. Passed all my preliminary testing.

Something I'd be happy to do more of in the future. Email if interested. Thanks!

Dan
