hello all..
ive been searching on the forum for a few hours now looking for a review of the HI katana. WOW!!!, saw some beautiful pics... but not much info on how they perform.

can anyone who owns one chime in and give me a little user info...
i may inquire to yangdu about getting one if i can convince the other half its a good buy.

ohhh and to ferguson... seeing pics of your katana made me drool :D

They are tough, but be ready to use your new belt sander as they seem to be very dull. Maybe I can come down next week and we can sharpen mine. Or you can come up to Sac. with your sander. It'll be fun.

Kewl, I've got a Kumar kobra that needs sharpening as well. I have a bunch of soda bottles that are needing to be cut as well.

Here's a test that a forum member named Broke Arrow performed on one of the prototype kats several years ago. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=146696&highlight=katana

My HI kat has held up wonderfully. I've done some pretty bad cuts with it, but nothing has slowed it down:) It looks to have gotten booted off the user line up with the addition of my backwards blade sword. Once i get the handle recombobulated, that puppy is gonna chop;)

Like Ted, mine needed an appointment with a belt sander. It took a LONG time to get a proper edge on... even more so than my 25" Kumar Kobra.
