I found it!

Here's some khanjarlis we made a few years ago. I think Kami hand carried these over on his first journey to the US.

These were manufactured using photographs and specs. out of some old books. About 16 or 17 inches as I recall. Not a good seller.

Uncle Bill

That looks like the same picture I have, only the Baghmarne has been cropped out of it. Back of my photo lists them as being 20", and the little baghmarne as 10 1/2".

The lower one, with ridges on the side of the blade looks pretty to me.

Have seen stuff like these in the past, but they were never of any quality. Tourist junk. Oh well, will wait and see if any of the other nuts in the jar of this forum get all excited. If the price wasn't too much more than for a comparably sized khuk, say 50 bucks, I would be interested.

( With the disclaimer that one of these days common sense just might set in, as dubious as such a proposition may seem. )

On second thought, would probably have to price them a good bit more than 50 bucks higher than a comparable size khuk, with all the metal work involved in the handle. Drat!

I'm here.I'm here!!! Yes,Yes,Yes.
What an organic experience.Sorry guys that's the best the forum will let e get away with.(VBEG)

I am gonna have to get myself about 3 notebook folders to keep these pix in. I have several including the last special order that we made for the little 9" model with the purty brass on the scabbard and such.

Rusty I like that one also.Looks ferociousely Strong!! I wonder if those little ridges would be kinda like "fullers" to an extent and add even more stiffness and strength to the blade?
With the downward curve it would be a pretty good chopper too.
I bet that one would lend itself well to the "Dundee Rig" everyone talks about.

Rusty, I think you are right -- I can't remember the length or weight. If you have 20 inches on the back of your pix that's probably right.

Uncle Bill

I can't recall for sure, nephew. We only made a couple of each maybe three or four years ago and will probably never make them again.

Uncle Bill

Pity, either one would make one h***uva Croc Dundee "Now THAT'S a knife". Bet it would scare the snot ( and just about everything else ) out of some predator who wasn't expecting trouble from the prey. But then I guess just about any 18-20" khuk could do that.

Ah, who am I kidding? If I can't decline the invite to go at it with someone, I want my 40XB- Repeater in .308 from waaaaay out there. On the other hand if I can't have a gun...

Apologize for my fugue state. Been very short of breath, maybe the forest fires. Can't hardly walk without gasping, and two weeks ago I was lugging heavy suitcases ( two pistols, two khuks, and a little over a hundred rounds in one of them )all around with no problem.

Edit- woke up breathing much better. Inhalant tx.s yesterday must have worked. Not being able to get breath is scary though.

This is to bring this thread back up to the top, so whomever it was interested in HI Swords could find it easier. Drool.

Also, try the following link for Ram Dao, Nepali Tarwar, Kora on Bill's website -

Bill,
Could this sword reference be to the ram d'ao and kora that you have on the HI site? That seems to make more sense.

Rusty:
Do you remember what those handles were made of? I think you mentioned metal?
The pic of these makes them look like old quality weapons.
I would really like one,but I don't know if the cost would be prohibitive for me.My sweet wife has been very patient with me so far.
She also knows a good investment when seen.At least the H.I.goodies are indestructable!!

The only true sword we have ever made is the tarwar (tulwar in India). It is about a 30 incher and nobody likes to deal with it very much. Those khanjarlis were pretty good pieces. Not a popular item and we don't like to deal with them much, either.

Uncle Bill

I would not mind having the one on the top myself. So who all would be interested in either on of these? I have to addmit I am very interested.

Regards,

Tom Carey

The first khanjar I may have seen in India in different variations of the hilt. The second one is very interesting in that it has a forward curving blade which I've never seen before in India.

Way to go Unce Bill!!!!

Them Indins are sneaky. But then again, after 4 or 5 years on the rez it was the Indins that was calling me Coyote. ( VBESEG )

Uncle Bill, can you get Pala to give us an estimate on the cost of the 20" khanjarlis on the bottom with the ridged sided khuk shaped blade? ( How much is the blood bank over on Terminal Way (( that's the airport terminal, wise guys )) paying these days for a pint of blood? )

Whom am I kidding. I'll come up with what it costs somehow.
