Hi folk,
I've encountered some HI khuks, that I know I've seen, but my mushy brain doesn't remember the names. OK you historians, what do you think?

I think #22 may be a Katunje.
Thanks!
Steve

Steve,

#15 is a beautful UB Memorial Salyan Special and is as close to Uncle Bills Prized posession as we're likely to see. Not sure if it is bone. It could be antler. But to me it looks suspiciously like Elk.

#22 Is Yangdu's Katunje (my) Special I believe and a very pretty on at that. I think the handle may be Satisaal But not entirely sure.

Together Those two represent the best of the best. Uncle Bill and Yangdu.

#6 i believe to be possibly an early Bura Boomerang, definately is a hanshee style khuk.

Good stuff and thanks, Karda. :p Think those are them.

I believe there were 3 UB Memorial Salyan Specials in antler; I have one. :D

Hmmm......Mr. Ferguson is looking for the correct names for some beautiful HI khukuris that just happen to have numbers attached to them. Seems like I've seen something like that somewhere before.....I can't quite remember where, though, or why....Maybe it'll come to me if I think about it for a little while....Right now I'm just Baffled:confused:

#15 ...
#22 ...

These two Khukuri would be the ultimate attainment for any devotee endeared and enchanted by the unique spirit of Himalayan Imports.

#15 is the Salyan.

#22 is Yangdu's knife, the Katunje.

#6 is the HI version of the Hanshee. Unfortunately, the kamis made this knife much heavier than the original, so it wasn't considered a success.

You've got to be kidding!
I would love to see more of these made, they are just gorgeous.

LOVE these 3 khukuris! #15 says "Salyan" in Devanagri script on the blade itself. #22 is the best-looking Katunje I've seen so far. And as for #6, wow! what can I say???!!! I'll second Karda - I'd also love to see more of these made, perhaps Aunty Yangdu can be persuaded to have the shop give these another try? Make them lighter, a wee bit thinner & longer - the blade as well as the handle - and they may come out pretty close to the originals. what do you all think?

Ferguson, thanks for posting!
