I was wandering if smaller utility knives such as R10 but shorter are available for purchase as blems or even separate? I know they are made as a set but having a few of them around in the kitchen would be very useful. Im talking about the size of Kagas Katne in the fashion of R10 (paring size). I recently lost my kitchen tools to a house fire and will be restocking knives as soon as i finish building my kitchen. My wife wants my Karda that came with my 25" siru but I aint giving it up:D. I know high carbon steel is not something most people want to deal with in the kitchen because they dont want to have to take care of it so maybe this is the reason they are not popular here? Maybe Kamis dont like to mess with thin bladed kitchen stuff i dont know...but a set of kitchen knives from HI would absolutely be in my kitchen. They are tools! Just curious to know if HI has ever considered something like this? Special run maybe?
I hope im not flogging a dead horse but I did find an old post by Yvsa referencing a company that makes Kitchen knives that im considering to replace my burned Henkels collection at a better price.

To Quote Unce Bill...if I may:

If you're gonna buy a khukuri you have to be alive.

In order to be alive you gotta eat.

In order to eat you gotta cook.

In order to cook you gotta have tools to cook with.

In order to get the right tools for the right job you gotta talk about it.

Get the tools, work, cook, eat, buy khukuris.

What has this to do with khukuris?"

Thanks UB! Im talking. Thanks HI for your thoughts!

Most of my kitchen knives are handforged high carbon steel. Unfortunately not HI. I just wipe them with a scotch-brite pad after use and wipe on a towel before putting them away. They don't need any more care than that.

You could let your wife use the karda from your Sirupati with the understanding that you may need to resheathe it when adventure calls. We always had a Herters knife in the drawer when I was growing up, and the sheath was always close by. My dad had used it a lot in the field in his earlier years. I still have and use that one, and a sheath is not far away.

The other solution to issues of this nature is to email Yangdu or give her a call.

I hope this is a good place to ask this. If not, I apologize in advance.
I often see a larger tool set in addition to the Karda and Chakmak. Are these sets available to order? What tools do they include? The really fascinate me and I would love to have a set.

I've special ordered larger karda and chakma in the past. You might also inquire about the sets with many tools.
