HI knive laws?

Hey guys,

I will be traveling to HI by military trans. What are the laws governing knive carry (most likely a waved endura clipped to my pocket)?

I'm also heading for HI this Christmas for vacation and did some research to find out what I could and couldn't bring.

NO: Autos, Balis, Double edged (some exceptions)

Other than that you're in the clear from what I've read. There are exceptions for dive knives and other knives that could otherwise be described as "deadly or dangerous weapons" and this was clarified in some case law that states ""Other deadly or dangerous weapon' is limited to instruments whose sole design and purpose is to inflict bodily injury or death" so it seems that a dive knife or a machete would be legal to carry based on the circumstances that you're carrying it. Walking into a nightclub with your dive knife tucked in your waistband might get you in some trouble, but if you're say driving to the dive site, I would think it would be ok. With you being in the Armed Forces, I would assume that there are some additional regulations you have to follow, but I don't know anything about that.

I personally plan on bringing my Pacific Salt (same size as endura), and this will likely be my EDC while in Kauai.

If anyone else has any better knowledge about HI knife laws or sees any obvious flaws in my reasoning, please let me know.

I got all the info from this site http://pweb.netcom.com/~brlevine/hi.txt
