Here is what Bill once offered:

And finally, a "new" (1950s) kora just after serving its sole purpose at Dashera. Good pix for comparison and I am still looking for this "new" kora. They seem harder to find than the 19thc pieces.

Interestingly, the "new" kora, made for ceremonial use, seems to sport a user-friendly grip(?)

Thanks for the post JDP. That Kora in the top photo seems to have a long grip too.

From the ripples on the Kora, it sure seems to look exactly like #5, which I brought to the convention a month or two back.

Only difference is I wrapped green leather lacing around the handle of #5 because the handle was too large around and too slick.

Made for sacrificial offerings huh? I can think of a couple nominally human types to volunteer for a short haircut.

Red, have to ask Bill, but I think that is a variation of a ram dao.

Rusty, where are your kora pictures and was it one of the vaunted HI pieces?

JDP:Yes, it is one of the HI pieces and no I don't have any pics. Have to ask Bill, but suspect they made a run of five and I got the last.
