HI Kuks: Standard, Special Order, or Obsolete?

After reading a thread that displays many folks' HI kuks, a couple of kuks that I am unfamiliar with caught my eye. Oh, woe is me......I must have succumbed to the dreaded HIKV disease. It now appears that my right hand has developed a bad case of the tremens and probably requires a Foxy Folly or Bone Cutter to alleviate or at least mitigate the suffering. These blades don't seem to be listed on the HI Shop's page, so are they special order, or used to be made blades, or what? Please help me. I need a fix.

Some are regularly only posted and sold on the forum. Some are special product runs, and some are customs. Does that answer your question somewhat? I know it's not really a great answer, but the best and most accurate I could muster.

The Foxy Folly and Bonecutter are standard HI models. They just don't come down the pike very often.

I believe Sgt Khadka used to make all the Bonecutters. I think more recently one or two other kamis might make that model, but I'm not sure. I don't know which kamis make the Foxy Folly, but it must take a lot of skill.

As far as use is concerned, these are completely different blades. The Bonecutter is a heavy chopper, functionally similar to an AK or Ganga Ram. The Foxy Folly has a much thinner blade, similar in some ways to the vintage WWI and WWI combat khukuris, but more of a showpiece with those beautiful fullers.

Your best bet is to send Yangdu an email asking about availability. Just be aware that her computer is currently in the shop so you might not get a reply for a few days.

yeah I would order you one bookie-- with the shop doing pretty good right now, I think you could expect it within 6 months, I am trying hard not to just include them on my current order ( i havent made down payment yet so I still change things up :D)-- a foxy and a bonecutter are both extremely fine knives.

Phil, thanks so much for posting that PDF... I had been trying to build a picture archive on my computer of all of the non menu items HI has to offer. This is a great resource!
thanks man

yeah really enjoyed looking through that-- have a couple to add to the list and it double confirmed my question about the other fancy knife I have, thanks

Dern it, Philllll. It's like I ain't got enough work to do, but now I gotta read all this stuff and it'll just make me spiral further on down into the depths of HIKV disease. Now, I'll have to come out of retirement and git a second job! Bawanna, where is it you sell them kidneys and blood at? Oh, is there no end in sight?

this thread has just cost me a large amount of money as I added model after model to my special orders involving HI wood shipment :(

But the good news is Gehazi, all that money and wood going over will then be replaced by quantities of steel works of art coming back :D

and hopefully many special run HI models, with the finest hardwoods and rosewoods from around the world as grips and scales for all!

Oh my Bookie is sinking into the depths. Picture a life preserver tossed in your direction or perhaps a hot LZ Huey Extraction would be a better analogy (Pugs, analogy, that's like a comparison, know you hate them big words). I feel your pain. Hope that Bashpati may sooth your pain at least for a few brief moments.

I'll send you the donor information forthwith.

bookie if you can't appreciate kermit's role of a lifetime ; I just dont know what to say! other than sorry? i thought you appreciated kermit working after all his years on the streets doing god knows what for pennies.

Hey Gehazi, can you email me, I cant find yours.

Gehazi, it's just not that Kermie got that job, it's that I TRIED out for it myself!! The pain is never ending. I used to be married to his girl friend's sister, you know--yeah, the ugly one. I saw the photo of that bonecutter with the traditional short length handle and thought proportion was superb and I should perhaps consider one. Then the Foxy Folly caught my eye as well (this is all Shavru's fault by the way) and it set me into a turmoil mentally. Dr. Bawanna prescribed that I buy two the kuks and then see him in the morning, but I must do some more gold $$$ prospecting first.

you don't have to go far for any prospecting bookie-- you are sitting on a gold mine in skills with that anvil and those authentic muskets

I am getting the blame for Bookie's desires towards a Foxy Folly? Sadly I have also succumbed to the massive appeal of that blade myself. I would be most excited to acquire one of them myself. The beautiful gleam of those fullers just seems to beckon..

What was the ONLY thread you subscribed to??????????????????????????????????????????????????????? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm? And posted it where I was sure to read it??????????????????????????????????????
