Hi Mick, ARs with black clip?

Today, toothed wrote, "I've thought about the "snafu" and wondered if there would be any other unique features of this run that would help identify it as an S30V in BG-42 clothing. Maybe. I'm not sure about all of the other AR runs but the clip on mine is black and most of the photo's I've seen seem to show a shiny silverish finished clip. Black is beautiful, imo."

What's up with the black clip? I WANT the black clip! BTW, are there any unique features that identify a mis-stamped S30V AR?

You can ID the miss-stamped AR/GB’s by two things.
1. They have a larger stop pin than you are used to seeing. (kind of hard I know).
2. S30V is not black when it comes back from HT. Therefor to add the tiger stripes, we Black Oxide the blades before striping them. (This is basically the same process that makes the blades black in HT). You can tell its an S30V blade by the fact that there is no color variation in the black part of the stripes. There is no red or other colors, just black.
3.* Most of them have black belt clips.


I swear we’ll get the stamping right one of these days.

Also....
All S30V blades have a little different STRIDER stamp.
I don't think we made any BG blades with the new stamp.

Thanks for the info. I have two more questions. Do any of the ARs with BG-42 blades have black clips? What is used to make the clips black?

No, less than 3 AR/GB's in BG have black clips.
We use Boron Carbide on the clips.

My AR in BG-42 has a black clip. I like it. It matches the black clip on the S30V GB. Everybody knows I like boron carbide.
