... so there were a few threads about members wanting to know if their addictions were going a little too far... how many people here can manage, through some means, to not spend vast amounts of money on knives?

I mean, I rarely have more than three knives at a time, but I never have money. How many of you who do work full-time or have plenty of spare cash collect knives without spending every last spare penny on them?

Well, not every last spare penny, but I got my credit card bill for last month and it turns out I could have bought a Sebenza with what I spent on the knives I bought...and then some.

its OK though. Tax returns are just around the corner.

This year has been tough, meaning a great year for knife-buying, for several reasons: I've aggressively sought out out knives in two specific areas of my collection (Old Timers and vintage Bruckmann pocketknives). Schrade closeouts. Some fantastic deals in the "Maker's For Sale" section. Working long shifts (20-60 hours) earned abundant funds.

That is one demographic of the forum membership that I don't understand, Knife Swappers. Not knocking it, I just don't understand. I own every knife that I've ever bought (minus a few carrying knives that I've lost).

Best Wishes,
Bob

I am a maker. Once I started making, I havent bought another knife. I actually dont even keep many knives around the house, but I also have a constant stream of knives I am making and shipping out, etc....the addicition has become a whole different monster....now its the search for premium woods, burl patterns, damascus billets, etc....

I guess its a good thing. For the most part I couldnt afford to buy the knives I sell, so it all works out!
