Hi everyone. My name is smiling-knife. I live in the UK. I thought I would introduce myself in this forum as I am a big fan of traditional folding knives. I like pen knives, whittlers and most traditional patterns. I have a few older Sheffield-made knives and I am on a bit of a Boker quest at the moment. I have only been collecting for a short while (< 1 yr) so look forward to learning from the more experienced collectors on board. I know a few friends here already from another site and expect to meet many new ones. Thanks :) s-k
 
Welcome, S-K. As a big fan of traditional folding knives, I think you will like it here. Post some pictures of those older Sheffield knives if you can. I would love to see them. Again, welcome.
 
Welcome aboard S-K..! The poster's here are quite knowledgable about slippies. Most of us went from Tactical to Practical... AKA.. the slipjoint!

We should all take a breather and welcome all the new members! UK is a tough place to live if you collect and love knives, i hear. weather's great in southern US...82 F yesterday.

LBG- oh, i love this section! i've repaired loads of the remington bullets and have tried my hand at making a few, but do mostly fixed. tried to explain to the wife how every boy had a slippie and they never stop loving them.
i'm waiting for some heat treating to finish and watching all the newcomers. everytime i look at the bottom of the main page, it's welcoming someone else!
 
Thanks you all for your kind responses. I think I upgraded to gold membership a few minutes ago so I can post photos, but don't know forsure. The process seemed a little convoluted. The first attempt or two didn't seem to work... or maybe they did and I am now a triple gold member :D s-k

Hi s-k glad to have you here. Boker Cera-Titan is a nice knife, especially for a doctor. It will stay razor sharp a long time, but will break if too much side pressure is put on. It probably has a great warranty but...
