Hello everyone. I just wanted to give a short intro since I'm new to these parts. I'm another outdoor enthusiast with good taste in blades. After seeing many HI reviews and videos and I finally popped
Just made my first HI purchase. Ordered a Tarwar and a 25'' Kobra. Yeah I went big right off the bat. :D

I think once I play around with them I'll probably end up adding more to my new collection. Have my eye on that beastly bowie and maybe a medium sized kukri.

Every blade I own is a user but very well maintained. So pretty soon I'll make some videos of the tarwar and kobra and post them here.

Anyway that wasn't as short as I had planned.

Welcome to HI and the forum!

Your first choices won't disappoint, however unorthodox. Usually first timers start with something in the 15-18" OAL range as a chiruwa ang khola (or CAK), an M43, WW II, or a british army service (BAS), or perhaps as large/heavy as a 20" CAK chopper and a 21" chitlange/sirupate fighters. As you seem to be instead leaning towards sword sizes, make sure to check out the HI falcata, everest katana, bhairab, chitlange bowie, tibethan sword, and indonesian sword. This forum has plenty of reviews and pics on all of these unique pieces of art.
Also, keep an eye on the forum around noon for special deals of the day (DOTD) by Yangdu. Finally, don't ignore the Stickies up top om the page, especially the safety instructions and the warranty info, but there is plenty of other good info too.

It's quite an addiction, hope you have fun with it!

First off thanks for the friendly welcoming everyone. Ty Karda for the reminder on safety as well as the other links. So far I've been reading them and I found the "forum rules and philosophy'' very moving. I'm lucky to have found this "community".

oh I don't even have the tarwar and kobra in hand yet just ordered early this morning. I like all sized blades for different tasks. What size, length, weight I lean towards would have to depend on the objective. I just have a feeling I'll want to try a medium size HI after these big ones. :)

Welcome Nick...sounds like you like large swinging boys.
Tarwar is one of the biggies i hope to score one day.

Thank you for your upcoming videos!

Welcome Nick. The HI forum is comprised of a fine group of kind people. And Ms.Yangdu and HI are peerless.

On a side note what is the history on the Tawar? I thought the blade that was generally though of as the 'war blade' of the Nepal area is the "Talwar" a full belly'd recurve bladed sabre type sword. Is that incorrect? Is the Tawar a straight bladed take on the Talwar?

I shipped the Tarwar and 25'' Kobra via UPS and parcel will arrive there within five days, thank you and welcome to the HI and blade forum
