Hi All,

Ive been hunting for a kukri, as I find them mighty intresting looking knives, I was hoping for these "shark deals" Ive read abouthere, but they dont seem to happen no more .

Ive now spotted "Dans" genuine hand made in America knives & kukri, in the other thread @ Link to kukri .

Now thes sound the real deal to me & mighty fine pricing too,

"Pricing for new khukuris are as follows:

5160 or 52100 steel, 10" blade, Exotic Hardwood handle, Differential Hardening = $250
O1/L6 Delbert Ealy Damascus steel, 10" blade, Stabilized wood handle = $450 "

So seeing this "Dan" can you please supply photos either here, or by email of the kukris you do? I dont like to buy sight unseen, you understand?

Dave the Baptist.

I've had Dan do some work for me, so I highly support you if you want him to build you one!

Don't give up on the deals of the day, however. Uncle Bill is very ill and he and his wife have all they can do to deal with that. Things hopefully will get back to a semblance of normalcy and we can go back to happily sharking great khuks at great prices.

And after you've looked at Dan's fine stuff visit the HI shopping site for views on all the khukuris from Nepal. Even the regular prices are reasonable for a handforged blade of size.

Most beginners start small and work up, it would help if we knew what kind of work you wanted the blade to do?

Welcome Chopy!

I too would recommend HI's regular website, www.himalayan-imports.com and get a sense of what you are looking for.

The Deals of the Day should be back sometime soon, we all hope. Just watch out for some very hungry sharks....

Too early to tell, but if it is, expect a meltdown in 3,2,1... Yvsa's a crazy NDN, Rusty's the Antichrist, and me, haha, well, I'm probably a vile sodomite or worse! We won't even mention Danny, lol.

Welcome Chopysteel. Pardon the weirdness.

Uncle Bill's deals are projected to resume after Uncle Bill leaves the hospital. I imagine that's keeping most of the shipping staff (i.e. Yangdu, his wife) busy, without much chance to post. Likewise, regular shipments will also probably be slow.

No offense to Dan, but it might be wise to start with an HI khuk. A bit less expensive, so you can get a feel for what you want. Then you can hit him with a custom order for fancy wood, perfect tolerances, etc. etc. Of course, if you want to start with Dan I'm sure he's willing to have you order repeatedly until you get one that's Just Right. :D

Good models to start with are in the 16" range - Ang Khola (AK), Sirupati, WWII, or British Army Service (BAS

What Tohatchi said. REad the HI web page too- it is different than the shopping site, and has historical and other interesting data.

Welcome Chopysteel!!

Nevermind some of the others, the clove oil gets too thick at times around here.

Sit around around the fire with the rest of us. Be aware though, some of these guys could use watching...

Kendo or Burafan, take your pick.
It didn't take any time at all.

I vote Burafan. He didn't waste any time.

Last observed as "Chechako" - a word meaning trash or garbage, I think.

Care to see how fast we can find out an IP number and ISP, even computer platform & browser type?

Ad Astra :barf:
