Hello everybody, I've own a Kershaw G-10 hawk and a CRKT Delagate Gentleman. I'm finding that I am really attracted to the long thin blade style but I want something more robust and frankly better made than these two. Not that there is anything wrong with these. Just looking for some recommendations on more solidly built blade with the same long thin profile and higher quality steel. No daggers. Thanks

The 943 sounds like something you would really like. More money than the two you have now, but I kind of figured you already know you will be getting a much nicer knife depending on your budget.

Is this BM really worth ~$200. It's awfully expensive

It's not quite as thin as the knives you mentioned, but the Spyderco Endura's blade is pretty long/thin (especially if you get the FFG version).

I would say probably yes. There are mixed opinions likely, but if you shop around you may get it for less. The way I got most of my knives was buying used, but top shape ones. Requires patience but is a lot easier on the wallet. There are other longer thin blade knives in different brands though too.

Very nice but ouch...~$200
That's just the MSRP. Check out GP Knives (google them) -- they have it for $128. They're great to deal with, and they also support BladeForums by having a dealer membership here.

Like others have mentioned, $200 is the MSRP. You can find them from reputable dealers for far less, usually in the $125-140 range shipped.

You might also check out the Exchange here on Bladeforums. You might be able to find one.

+1 on GP Knives

On the subject of the 930, though, I'd say it is extremely worth the price tag. Especially for $128. Lightweight, great blade steel, carries very nicely in the pocket, and just an overall good looking blade. Also, you get the axis lock, which is a huge plus for me. I love Al Mar knives, but i would take the 930 over Al Mar.

Edit: Just checked GPKnives, seems their out of stock. I'd say hunt around the exchange for one to pop up if you end up choosing it.

It probably wouldn't be worth $200, but I think it's definitely worth the $125-140. I carried one exclusively for three years through my undergrad at Penn State. I'd say it holds up pretty well to even drunken stupidity. :)

Yeah, the 930 has actually been discontinued by Benchmade, so the Exchange will probably be the best bet for getting one below Benchmade's MAAP given that GP and KW are both out of stock of the plain-edged version.

There's a used BM 940 in the exchange right now. No affiliation, I just saw it there.
