I was bored so I decided to scribble a little design for a Scagel-style camp knife, HI style. Kind of a longer Kumar Karda.
This design needs cleaning up, but I like the "keyhole" cho that's on the 30" Sirupati, and the fancy linework with the brass inlays. Upswept tip, standard wood or horn handle. 12" blade may be a little too large. I'm comparing it to my Bowies in that range. 10.5-11" may be more than enough. :)

If I make a wood model, would anyone be interested in something like this? Suggestions? comments? donuts?

Like I said over yonder, this is exactly what I"m looking for!! Hope it's a go.:D

Perhaps with a little shorter blade and a longer handle, I could be pursuaded to purchase such a product. :)

I like it. I really like it. No, I'm not kidding, I really, really like it.

Can you tell that I like it? If it comes to fruition, I'm in.

That makes 5 of us. More the merrier. I'll see about making a wood model. I'm a little artistically challenged as the drawing shows, but maybe I can borrow a jigsaw or something. :)

Steve's obviously a little lukewarm on the subject. Not sure you can count on him.

I agree that it needs a little longer handle, but other than that I like it a lot. I probably won't be able to sign up though, lack of funds and upcoming expenses won't let me.

Now that's nice! I'll eat Ramen Noodles to afford one. And I think the handle is just fine.

Dadgummit, first JDP with his old school kardas, now looky here at this Scagel. Makes me want to run home and start grinding on a big old file I've been saving for something special. Saw an original Scagel in this exact profile/size (minus the "mediterranean choil notch") at the last gunshow I went to. Beautiful knife, but the price tag kept it in the realm of wistful dreams. Dadgummit it, where'd I put that big old Nicholson Black Diamond? That's going to be three or four nights of standing in front of the grindstone.:grumpy: :D

Over on Pen's temp forum this morning. I wrote that this was exactly what I needed for the kitchen. Something to go through these blocks of hard cheese i split and things like melons and such. I just need a longer blade. At least 12 inches to go through the wedges of parmesan. That stuff requires brute strenght at the least!!

When the computers were having their problems I missed Pens temp forum. I it is still a going deal could you please give me the U
RL? Thank you!:) It does look like a very good knife. I'm not partisl to the over long handles either. That's why I gave my grandson the 18" WWII. He like it a lot and he can get two hands on it.:D

LOL, Bruise. I done told yas I ain't so artistic! :p :D

Sarge, if you grind on a file, please share the results. Your handmade knives and stuff are always nice to see!

Pen only had it on while this was down. It's off again now.
