Hi-Tec Magnums

I have used a pair of Hi Tec Magnum, model Stealth for half a year now. They hold up quite well, without any noticeable fatigue. I have mostly worn them when working as a security guard, driving armoured transport. It is a lot of getting in and out of the car, varying environments. These boots will work well for urban usage, but I would not bet on them for trekking and such, as the soles are rather soft, meaning rocks and stuff will be felt too easily through them. I have wide feet and they are broad enough for me at least..

OK for town/shopping. That's about it.
Hi-tecs are high leg trainers. It is worth spending the extra money and buying BOOTS.

Years of experience talking here...Stay away from the Hi-Techs. I am wearing Danner boots on duty now and they are among the best I have ever had.

They don't make Danner boots for my big feet, so I've had to settle for Matterhorns, Corcorans, and Timberland for boots.

I would not recommend Hi-tecs. I would go through two pair a year until I got my Danners, which I've had for about 9 years. I've had the Danners resoled once, they could stand to be resoled again.

Most officers I work with also swore off Hi-tecs. I would consider them a light duty boot at best.

When they first let us wear the Hi-Tech's several guys bought them. It was ugly :o

They pretty much lasted one "field problem" and then were trash.

I'm a huge fan of Danner's. If you have wide feet their gortex sock is made to size. Many other's aren't.

I have worn the Danners for 2.5 years with 10th MTN and another 1.5 in Korea with 2ID. They are a great boots!

I have had many issued to me over the years. I like the Danner the most.

Hi-Tecs look great, feel great, and fall apart before you know it.
I've used them as work boots-came apart at the seams in no time.
My best friend is a cop. Had two pair that didn't last long, either. I'll say this for Hi-Tec: he sent them an email about the quality of their boots, and they sent him two brand new pairs.
For me work boots=Wolverines.
If I wanted "tac" boots, I'd buy Danners.

I've been using Timberland's 6" Premium boot as a work boot. For winter use I've been using either my Matterhorn 10" combat boot or Corcoran Jump Boots with thick socks. I'm currently looking for a waterproof boot around 8" high. I'll probably end up buying the Matterhorn USMC boots.

Are Wolverine boots available in size 14 EEE?

Assault Boots and Combat boots...

Combat boots ala Matterhorn and Danners are heavy and last a long time. My Matterhorns have been going for about 3 years now and I've had a pair thats lasted about 7 years, resoled twice and still going well. (I dumped them cause they were just looking too trashy)

Assault boots are light, flexible, usually not very protective, and lasts only a few months... The good thing about them is that the soles are supposed to be very sticky, allows you to be quick, jump, stop and pivot... kinda like very high top basket ball shoes...

My Hitechs only last about 3 months before the insoles need changing, and about 8 months before they start falling apart... the lightness of the material is the culprit.

I recently tried to have a pair of Hi-Tecs repaired by the addition of a 1/4 rubber heel. The cobbler says it can't be done. He also pointed out that the upper was coming away from the sole on my pair.

I now wear Danners for duty, despite the cost and difficulty of sourcing them here in the UK.

Hi-Tecs are - as someone has already said - high-leg trainers.

I have used sveral pair of Hi-Tec magnums over the years and had the same problem with every pair. The soles separate easily. They will warranty them it it gets annoying after awhile. I went to Matterhrons and have had great usage  from them.
