Got a name newbie? generally when someone introduces themselves they say Hi, my name is " insert your name here". My advice to you would be stay away from the forums having anything to do with knifemaking. It's a sickness. It only leads empty pockets and sorrow, soon you have a grinder and you are buying steel, looking for handle material, trying to figure out ways to work around not having a "Insert tool name here". Then you start looking at factory made knives and thinking I could make something like that only I'd change "xyz". You start lusting for the harbor freight 20% off coupon because you have your eye on that 4x5 bandsaw . Eventuall it all ends in tears!

Welcome, Newbie. I mostly just lurk around myself, but can tell you that the guys and gals on BF are some of the most helpful and friendly folks around. They'll treat you right.
 
Welcome! Let me just say that this is one of the most knowledgeable and mature "hobby" forums I know of. You'll love it here :D
