HI tomahawk

There was a thread about an HI tomahawk awhile back, just wondering if anything has come of it yet, if it's still in the works, or if the idea was dropped?

Jon,

check out this site www.hbforge.com. I just gave my brother a Shawnee Hawk that they made and it seems to be top notch. Prices are right and the guarantee seems to be like HI's too. I got to throw the hawk last night and I really liked it. However, it was the first hawk I've ever thrown so...

They use some objectionable language on the name of one of their hawks, but I've been told that they are looking in to it, and plan on changing it. Email me if you have questions about what I'm talking about with respect to this.

Yes, nothing is to be called 'squaw' anylonger in the US.

MauiRob, I just asked Cliff Stamp about a felling axe or the throwing hawk. Do you own a work axe too?

I don't own anything from HB forge yet. I own a mid-sized hawk-like hatchet/axe type thing made by Snow and Nealey that I think will throw pretty well, but I haven't tried it yet.

I have owned a hawk form HB for several years now and it throws really nice! Mine is laminated and is really tough and sharpens up in a flash! I don't think you could beat these at an price and I would highly recommend one if you are thinking of getting a hawk!!!:)

Now that I think about it Chris, I think you were the one who told me about HB forge in the first place when I posted about throwing stars? Either way its good to hear that they last a long time:) I'm probably going to get the Shawnee hawk (same as I gave my bro) or the throwing knife, but there's just something about the hawks....

I have several H & Bs, including the Shawnee and the Viking models. Although I like them a lot, if you want to take a step up in fit and finish you should check out www.2hawks.net . I've got his Warhawk, rawhide reinforced Longhunter, and the Competition thrower. They are very nice hawks at decent prices.

If you like throwing knives, the H & B thrower is excellent. My second favorite next to a Blackjack Broadhead.

I neglected to add that Gransfors Bruks ( www.gransfors.com ) is coming out with a hawk, but it is not yet on their website. There was a thread in the Axe & Hawk Forum with a picture. It was started by SlopFoot and entitled "Gransfors Bruks Dakota & Gothem". Last post was 5/6/2002. Don't click on the first links in the opening post. Go to the next post where there's a picture of the Dakota.

If the Dakota's quality is anything like that of their axes, it will be great.

I had plans once of making a 'Hawk model for H.I. but Bill and myself decided that the handle would be way too much of a problem.
I may still do one someday but if I do everyone will have to make or provide their own handle and it will be a "Poll 'Hawk" so as to be useful for more purposes. There's plenty of places making 'Hawks as weapons should someone prefer a spike 'Hawk or the like.

Are you orientated to time, place, and person? It will be very difficult to have you commited to an institution as long as you remember your name, today's date and time, and the name of the President of the United States.

I'm hoping Munk just has a very dry sense of humor, if not he's 5 beers short of a sixpack himself!!;) :p :D

Worst part of humor is taking the plunge and no one laughing when you come up for air.

Hmmm, my answer to the questions might be, "Who knows? Who cares? And who gives a Big Rat's Ass as the bastards are all the same?:)
Of course everyone knows I'm certifiable certifiable. :p ;)

I'm not sure where I stand regarding mental health. Sometimes I think all six are there, sometimes I think there's even a seventh...

whole hell of a lot of days I think every damn can is empty.

Thanks Yvsa & all, I was just wondering if the "HI project" was still in the works. I bought a CS ~ $20.00 hawk that I've filed the blade, sanded the handle, etc., and now that the weather has gotten nicer I'm attempting to destroy ;) . I follow the tomahawk forum & have been to various web sites & "conversed" with users & mfg's (& there are some very nice hawks out there) but, after seeing the bowie (Scagile - spl?) from Yvsa's model, I'd be very interested with what the kamis could do with a hawk.

Handle - if someone (model maker - Yvsa ;) ) sent the specs from a "standard - any standard" - for the cutout in the head, from somewhere handles are readily available, the "user" could be responsible for "final assembly".

Just brainstorming here, I wouldn't get to first base trying to create a model myself.
