This will probably post as 2:XX AM EDT Sunday April 2 on the East Coast, but it's only 10:07 PM PST out here.

One year ago today, Cobalt, whom we hear too little from these days, first proposed the HI Ang Khola Bowie ( now refered to as the HI trout and bird knife ).

Back then, if I remember correctly, the Shop I owner/manager ( located down in the terai ) who turned out HI blades and in the rest of his shop's time turned out contract knives, had to have an operation in India, and without him, HI production was shut down. The convalescence, then the monsoons, led to Pala opening up shop 2 in Kathmandu under Pala's supervision. It later was named Birgorkha ( Brave Ghorkha ) when government requirements made a name necessary. Lot's of stories to remember as they hired new help and taught them the standards required by HI. The villagers started being sought out and then flooding in. The Royal Kami showed up and did a few, and ended up shop foreman. A new site was selected and a shop constructed out of Kathmandu. Pala came over for about 4 months.

Too much to cram into one single post. But worth remembering. Thanks for being who and how you are, Uncle Bill.

Rusty.

And his wife had to have a brain tumor operation at about the same time. It was either start our own little factory or go out of business as we knew it. Selling the lesser quality knives was not an option for us.
