HI wishlists?

So, everybody here must already have a 16.5" CAK and the last DOTD is sitting lonely like a pup in the pet store (I am guessing everybody has an M-43 also).

What would you guys most like to see show up in the DOTD? It is after all the season to make wishes. This is as much of a mental teaser as it is of actual marketing value to Yangdu both in terms of future offerings and optimal pricing (sorry, it's the economist in me, cannot be turned off).

Let me start you off: I think I would like an 18" Khadka Bonecutter (ideally in a villager fit and finish but I don't know if those even exist yet).

Happy Holidays!
Alex

P.S. Feel free to move this to the Cantina if necessary, not that you need my permission.

I'd wish that CAK for someone else, as one parent of mine has expressed an interest in picking up a khuk as a gift, but is "tapped out," right now.

I'd happily experiment with a Bamboo Cutter, as I've said before, or a Jungle Bowie as a distant second. Texas is always a place for a good machete.

If those Himalayan hats ever come through again, I'd get one, to wear under my bicycle helmet (on those rare, cold days). If HI ever produces one of those classic, Nepali shields, or imports one of those East Nepali/Bhutanese bows, color me interested.

I can't believe I'm up so late, writing this. My internal clock must be shot to hell!

I was originally gonna hold off untill next month to get a CAK but seeing them pop up constantly in recent DOTD's for only $95, I had to jump on one. I hope to have mine in hand on saturday or next monday.

Since an M43 is next on my list I'd like to see some more of those pop up in some DOTD's.

I'm waiting (in-line I would think) for a Kerambit...not the shallow marginally functional Indonesian version....but the HI version.

I already know my Wife's going to claim it...that's good. I want her to OWN a knife.

Not just possess one, to OWN it. For it to be hers, and her it's.

I'm sorry if that doesn't make any sense... it does to me.

Kev,

Merry Christmas, and God Bless

I'd like to give an 18" CAK or Bonecutter a try... buuuut I've already spent all my $ on Christmas presents for the fam :(. I'm actually considering selling off my 18" M43 in favor of an 18" CAK, AK or Bonecutter... I know I'm going to get chastised for saying it, but something about the m43 just doesn't entirely jive with me

I'm not going to say, because Yangdu has a way of posting what we ask for and I'm completely out of money. So, I'll wait and hope I have the $$ if it comes up in the future.

That's probably the same reason the other pieces are still sitting in the DOTD not bought.

Oh shoot. I left out half the post (Christmas 'nog, dontcha know). I have a kerambit on order...it's on the way.

I just have to be patient. ;-}

Not my strong point.

id like to see a Seax, and a everest katana with a carved handle, to match the wakizashi.

and any Nepalese/Tibetan cultural items ..hats, jewelry, carvings, sword/knife stands

I have been going back and forth over the Malla and the 18" Gelbu Special. I have never seen either one in person, but the Gelbu seems to be calling me in...Buy me Buy me rings in my head :D.

17-20" 20-25 oz. Suripati , carved wood handle (Tigers, dragons) with a nice stain, filework on blade, pomel and guard (Again, Tigers or dragons) white metal(Or brass), and a metal inlay scabbard resembling the kothimoda.

Let me know when to send paypal!

Think "slender Ang Khola' when it comes to the 18" Gelbu. Quick and lively in the hand and packs a serious wallop. A natural born zombie killer.

"Idealistically", I would like to see an 18" Sherpa, Jange or Bagh Bhairab on DOTD. Heck, I wish they were still making them. More reasonably, an 18" Chitlangi or Ganga Ram Special (both?) would be nice.

Jeff S1-Follow the siren song. They're both great khuks (actually picked up an 18" Malla from DOTD), but the Gelbu Special (aka Udhaipuri) is "Special", in my limited opinion. After holding my 18" GS for about a minute, it got a name.

Nice choice!

Hmmm, soo many goodies, and so little funds! But no shortage of wishes at least. Some stuff I wouldn't mind having eventually:

18" Kobra, Malla or Sirupate.
Another Everest Katana
R-10
Rusty SD
Ginunting
Panuti
12" AK.
Gool

Needless to say, my chopping needs are already covered with the blades I have already, so the focus of the above list is either for lighter tasks or just plain fun.

Hi all, the only khuri I own is a 15 inch BAS.
I'm not sure what the model would be because I've never seen one that fits my vision of a really nice Kuri but here is my idea:
18 or 20 inch, not thick and distally tapered. Maybe 20-25 oz. Maybe 1/2 inch at the handle going to 1/8 inch at the tip. Full tang, with not so large of handle protrusion (bell) at the end. Maybe closer to a ball for comfortability and grip. Also would like the angle of the blade to be less accute than most of the khuris I've seen.
Does this model exist?

I forgot: it would be great to find an HI Dirk, to match our Rusty SDs!

I Love my Gelbu! Used it yesterday chopping wood for the fire tonight - light and fast but a good chopper
