Good Morning Buck knife friends.
Just a quick hit and run to see if I remember how to even make a post.

Some of you may remember me posting about a black bladed 192 in S30V some years ago.
Is one of the Cabelas Alaskan guide knives I believe.. old age memory...lol

Was at Moms house during one of our hunting things and I had washed and laid it on the counter to dry.

Well mom picked it up and went to using it and raved about how sharp it was. So... long story short, it remained in her knife drawer ever since as her primary go to knife.
its pretty easy to date that happening since it is an IDAHO .

Mom passed away back in May and Dad has been gone since 2008. I bought the place from the estate and put the word out to family that anyone would suffer if that and a couple other buck knives should disappear out of that drawer.

So it is still here along with a 470, a 471 and a couple of the S30V AG fillet knives that my wife loves.

In the past there has been some discussions about knives and dishwashers. I just never told mom not to run any of them through the dish washer. So just no telling how many dish washing cycles these knives have been through since 2005 and they still look as good as new. Well maybe with a little brasso on the 192 Vanguard... lol

The 192 will always be a MOM fond memory and fun story to tell.

We are still getting moved in here after loosing our home to the Harvey flood Houstons north side, and living in a small travel for the last two years... So ill try and log in for some agitation/aggrivation every now and then. Will take me a bit to learn the new pic posting thing..

Great story, great knife. I appreciate the effort employed to maintain possession of it. A true Buck nut! More than just a knife though, tied to memories make it so much more.

Thanks for sharing :)

Good to hear from you Brother Ratty! It's been awhile, sorry for the loss of your Mother and your home. Looking forward to some Texas style adventurers in the future.

Good story. That flood was something. I have a house on the near north side but it remained dry. It's gone through many floods, hurricanes and one twister but in 30 years I never had a claim. Sorry for your losses.

If your ever in the Kosse area, stop and say hello. pete

Ill post about my flood knives a bit later...
I've wondered about you and if you just took a break or what. I too am sorry about your losses, but glad that you're planning on being back and participating on the forum again. Looking forward to your stories.

Welcome back! I’ve been a member for only a couple years now but have seen some of your posts. Sorry about your losses.
I have friends and relatives that live in that area and they also had some losses in the flooding and fortunately none were lives lost but some and probably most are still recovering from financial and materialistic losses.

I am looking forward to more of your posts!

So, good to hear from you Ratty!!! Of course I've been meaning to write you but haven't. I think I still have your email.
I remember when you first gave that 192 to your Mother and you posted here about the story. I thought it was only 2 years ago but Harvey
hit Houston in August 2017. Darn, how time flies. Glad to hear you are fine and are now moving to God's country. I'll keep an eye peeled for
your posts. DM
