I live in Sweden. I have a few decent knives, but no fiddleback. If you were to recommend Teo models for me, which would it be?

I hunt and camp.

I am looking for one 4-5" blade and one 2,5-3" blade. I'd like to get a matching pair allthough I realize that may take years :)

Grateful for your comments.

Welcome aboard
The recluse would be my top pick. But all of ff blades will perform. Matter of personal pref on handle girth and blade shape.

Welcome, Friend.

I usually point people to the bushfinger as a starting point. It's the model that seems to be uniquely Andy's

If you truly want a 2-knife set up, I'd go bushcrafter and EDKarda. You get the stout spearpoint of the bushcrafter and the small pointy work of the karda.

Hi Daniel,

Lots of choices really. What is your usual set up when you hit the woods to camp over there? Are you an axe guy, or do you travel lighter?

Great recommendation Ken; another feasible solution (one that I have used with some success) is a thicker SFT hunter and ED/BC Karda.

@stenbäck - As you can see, there are several viable solutions; I would prioritize your bushcraft / outdoor knife use requirements and determine a profile / several profiles based on that.

Cheers

Welcome Daniel! My pick would be a Leuku and a Hiking Buddy.

That's exactly what I was thinking if he is an axe guy. Trying not to push those Leukus too hard just yet though, really want to get my hands on one, and as few as have surfaced so far, that's challenging enough as it is :)

Hi stenbach, welcome to the sickness!
I think I'd go with the Bushfinger or Bushcrafter and the hiking buddy. If you don't have an axe or have a need to build shelter and process a bunch of wood, I may step the Bushfinger up to the camp knife. That bad boy looks like it will handle about anything you want to throw at it.
I camp in what I call pretty neutral surroundings due to where I live. Meaning no extreme weather changes, no huge mountains, no really dangerous animals, and civilization is usually within a few hours hike. I also use a tent or a hammock.
Welcome aboard buddy!

Welcome to the forum!

Use an axe or hatchet for processing wood. I'd go with a Recluse and a Bushboot. The Recluse has ample belly to do most tasks and the Bushboot is a nice all around EDC. As far as matching scales go, I like the base price tuxedos. They come in a light black almost dark gray micarta and get darker with use.

The tux is a great no frills, user scale configuration: black micarta over natural micarta with a white pinstripe an natural micarta pins.

Here's an example of a tux on my Bushboot...

Kephart and a bushraptor. two knives to meet any situation that you'll never want to get rid of.

I'd go Hunter and Hiking Buddy. That's admittedly due to my large hands (my hands are long/wide but not thick).
the hunter handle is dreamy sweet! it's burly enough for most anything. I can't get the curved handle of a bushboot to feel right but the straight handle of the Hiking Buddy feels great.

Welcome to you new addiction!

Velkommen. Hyggelig med flere skandinaver.

I'd go for a Hunter, Bushfinger or Recluse as a general purpose 4"+ knife. If you plan to pair it with a small knife then a Duke or Woodsman would also work well.

I don't own any of Andy's small blades so I can't give any good recommendations there.

Hello Daniel. Welcome!

Lots of great advice, and lots of great models to pick from.

I'll echo what others have said: Hunter or a Duke would make a great bigger knife. For the smaller I'd look at a EDKarda/Bushcraft Karda (same blade, just slightly different handle) or a Hiking Buddy.

Good luck in your hunt.

Wow, this is a friendly place :)

I spent the day out with the kids after posting this morning. Then I get home to this flood of great suggestions :) Thank you all. I think I have some research to do. When hunting, I am normally into the smaller blades with good, rather large handles. I also like to have a bigger blade 4-5" for general use. When it comes to chopping I normally prefer an axe though (or ocasionslly I'll bring my Swamp Rat Chopweiler ;) )

Thanks again. I'll look into all the models mentioned.

Welcome, and I'm so glad you said you carry an axe. Otherwise, I was going to question your swedishness ;)

For a smaller blade with still a great handle, I'd recommend a recluse. It has the belly for processing animals, and for woodcrafting, typically comes in 1/8" thickness and tapers pretty narrowly towards the tip, hence I find it to be a very good slicer with very good bite, and awesome for fine works. wow, that was horrible grammar, but at work so I'll just end it as it is.

Edit: Haha, looks like more knowledgeable folks already recommended the recluse and other great options! you're right, this place has a lot of friendly people.

I have had a look now, and I think the Bushcrafter, Hunter and Recluse are my two main contenders in the "bigger" blade category.
Just two things......choose one.....be able to get one..... :) I´ll have patience.

Now I´ll have a look at the smaller blades.
