Pretty much just curious as to where I can procure some adequate wood blanks to make full sized handles from (32-36").. I'm kind of interested in making the next couple of handles myself from near-scratch. I've made a couple entirely from scrap wood, but those were hatchets and I don't want to risk it with a full sized 3+ lb head.

Not sure where you're at in the PNW but if in the Seattle area then I bet Blackstock could help you.

Finding hickory shouldn't be difficult for you but it will take some looking to get a good piece once you are at the lumber yard, watching for grain runout not only on the faces, that is out the edges, but the edges as well, out the faces.

Yeah I guess there are a few lumber stores here that I'll go check out. Not too sure as to how the quality will be but it's worth a check.. and at the same time, I guess I'll email the two companies I've purchased handles from in the past and see if they'd be willing to sell me blanks. Worth a shot at least.

Hickory blank store.

Can't tell if you're trolling me...
