Decided to take a couple mile walk on the trail that goes to Hickory Creek today.

Here is the start of the path.

Some wildflowers. Anybody know what they are?

I was telling my wife that I was surprised that no turtles were on the logs. I turned to look at her and she was pointing at this. I don`t know if it`s a water moccasin or what? It was pretty darn big, and I don`t like snakes!

Here it is, straightening out. We got out of there quick!

Looks like a great walk. I don't mind snakes as long as they keep their distance.
Is that near your house?

It's great having areas like that close by. When the weather is cooperative you have few excuses.

We`ve been making it a point to get out once a week, at least. We are going to try Starved Rock again later this week.

Probably a water snake of some type, you're too far north for moccasins. They can (and will) give a nasty bite if you get too close.
