Hello all, I was planning on making a paring knife and wanted to try doing a hidden plunge line following Ekim knives guide on the matter.

My question is, is this a good idea to try out on a paring knife? Considering how much smaller it is than the big chef knife he makes in the tutorial.

I am a fairly new to knifemaking so this may be a dumb question, but I just thought i'd ask before i started if you think its possible to get the same blending to where it looks like a full flat grind.

If you are using the right size thickness stock it should be easier to do on a paring knife.thin stick and shallow blend
This just matter of opinion but I'd do a slight convex grind on my paring knife .better for steering on a Parer and good to get practice in for convex grind on bigger chef knife .for food release

Thanks for the advice, might even give convex grind a try now that you mention it.
Im working with 3mm thick stock so that might be on the thicker side, but ill give it a try. Also just did a test piece and found that with enough hand sanding you can just about smooth anything out.

maybe 2mm will be better suited to avoid wearing the belts out by grinding 3mm stock down to size

Yeah, 2mm or even 1.5 would work better for a paring. I do some of these thin knives with a blended plunge. Quick and easy, and sell very well.
