Here's one I did with some stabilized Juniper Burl. Still trying to find a name for this design.

Steel: ATS-34 1200 grit finish
Blade Length: 4 5/8" from end of guard
Overall: 9 3/8"
Guard: 416SS - 2500 grit finish
Handle: Stabilized Juniper Burl
Pin: Mosaic through tang

Anyhow if anyone has a name idea for this design feel free to give it to me.

Thanks for looking,
Sean

That's a winner Sean, I like that Juiniper burl! It looks similar to Redwood burl, does it work about the same?

Hmmm... that blade in damascus ;)

Thanks for sharing Sean! :D

Nicely done Sean! I like the top line of the knife particularly. That Juniper is nice looking burl, I think you scored on that piece. Thanks for sharing, I'll try to think of a name for it too. If you really want to generate some suggestions, offer one of the knives to whoever submits the name you end up using - you'll get plenty of ideas and most likely at least one of them will trip your trigger. At least, that's been my successful ploy. ;)

Juniper burl is very rare.

That is a great looking knife Sean.

Beat me to it, Chuck. I was going to say how rare that stuff must be. Great knife Sean. Tack on an addition $50 to cover the rarity of the burl!

It is creepy how similar this design is to one I am about to complete. Other than bolster shape, it is nearly identical. I will post pics when I have them.

I hope mine turns out as nice as yours! Mine will have ringed gidgee.

Thanks everyone.

I bought a few pieces of juniper burl, it's amayzing how much they vary. This I agree does look very similar to Thuya Burl. I didn't find it any different to work than other stabilized woods. Finishes well.

Yes this one would look good in a damascus. Definitely one I'd like to make in damascus some day.

I'm trying to decide if I am going to keep this one for hunting season this fall (am leaning more towards keeping it). Definitely would have a moose with it's name on it (well with a little luck). If I'm really lucky maybe even a caribou.

Damn Sean, I missed that one the first time around. Very nice indeed. If you make it down this way we'll make up some damascus for another. ;)

Thanks J.

Ya I think we'll see this design in damascus some time soon. Would love to one day make it down to your place.
