hidden/through tang fixed blades

Using a frame handle or morticed tang setup.
 
Let me make sure I understand your question. You want to use two scales rather than a single solid block of wood? If that's the case, the one time I did it I inlet each wooden scale to fit the hidden tang and glued them together with epoxy. I can see the seam but it is not very noticable. I did this because I seem unable to drill a hole through a solid block of wood and have it come out where I want it to. In frustration and desperation I sawed the block in half. Maybe this is the same thing as a "morticed tang setup"?
