He spent his first night with us and my little male Jack Russell (Boudreax) didnt like it one bit but he has to get used to the fact that hes getting old (98 in dog yrs). My other catahoula (Blue) is about the same age and she dont mind pups long as they dont mess with her. They seem to have found their place immediately but the tug for alpha male continues. Boudreaux tied up and in my armpits, lights out and we finally got some sleep. This pup can eat!!! At least hes house trained:thumbup: Should get the keys to my new house today or in the morning soon as the insurance papers are signed so i can move in with this monster pup! He weighs more than my wife i believe!

Well he needed a good home and was no doubt headed for the pound so hes safe with us for fifteen or twenty years. Should be interesting!

Wow! He's really something.

You kind of lost me on keys to the new house. You got the round house sans moat and draw bridge at this point, then you built a square house, now your getting keys to a new house. You gonna be on one of them property flipper shows?

We're kind of holding on replacing the wonder beagle. Got a lot of stuff going on this year at least my people. Traveling and stuff. I figure dogs are alot like Khuk's, they find who and where they belong with.

We're always getting strays and abandoned dogs here at the department and they are always looking for homes. When the right one comes along I guess we'll know.

Edit to add- wait do I see a shoe in that photo?

Also as long as your on the line, I see in the other pictures, one with a ladder as i recall, the trees are pretty grown up and vegetation quite heavy. How long ago was the big fire that took your place. It seems the fawna and flora are recovering quite nicely.

Well long story but short as I can make it. I began building the dome when I had no expectations of assistance from the government or anyone else. I figured Id build till I ran out of money then move in and thats what I did. I had it all calculated out to the penny and in the end was only a few hundred dollars off. That job was definitely a milestone in my life im proud of it..toot toot! Then the fed government after deciding to declare it a federal disaster made funds available through community development block grants (HUD) to help people rebuild what insurance didnt cover or whatever your situation was. I was approved for a grant about the time I finished building the structure of the dome but they wouldnt tell me if it was to finish out the dome or to completely rebuild a new house. They first wanted me to tear down the dome to get a new house and I told the to get of my property and dont come back. That aint happening PERIOD! They later decided to declare the dome "storage" so they could rebuild an entirely new house next to my dome. They said it would be too expensive to finish the dome so I could only take advantage of the grant if i chose new construction.
Well after much of the three years of camping without hot water, bathtub, kitchen, ac, heat, etc. its finally time to move in. I have to live in the square house for three years to legally own it then I can do whatever the heck I want. If I default the govment owns it and i loose everything property included so it was a big risk but will be good in the end.

I agree! This dog is lucky! He came at the right time.

Thats my wifes' shoe.

I've planted a lot of trees and such but much of the stuff growing back now is bush. 25" siru country!

Well that's good. Now you got a nice finished place to live and you can finish your dome at your own pace and dollars and time allow. Wife will be happy, you'll be happy, Otis will be happy, I'm already happy, so everyone is happy, happy, happy.

Really. I'm happy for you but I already said that.

Congrats, ndog! He's cute.

I've had a stray cat coming to my back door at exactly midnight the last 4 nights. Been putting food out for him when I see him. Last night he let me give him a little scratch on the head. My other 2 cats have been surprisingly curious about him, just looking through the window and then turning around and meowing at me. Usually when they see another cat in the yard they go nuts and start hissing.

Hmmm Central Tx. You subscribe to the "dogs belong outdoors" unless the weather is too bad theory or the "My furry child" theory, or a nice middle of the road view? growing up small town LA, all the dogs in town lived staked out in the yard, I think mom allowed a dog inside the house exactly 4 times when I was growing up, all because of seriously horrible weather. I prefer them inside most of the time (don't have one currently, not a good time to replace the last one now) with regular outdoor time for exersize and takin care of business.

Glad he found a safe place. He looks like a smart dog, bet you are going to have to keep him occupied or he will get into all sorts of trouble. Also remember you are suppose to carry the wife over the threshold, the dog is optional AFTERWARDS!!

Dogs live like Kings around my house. My wife even cooks for them. Heck they eat better than I do most of the time. I dont chain them up. Just not right in my opinion. They are furry kids and they can be disciplined. After the fire we stayed on our land and camped because we refused to leave our dogs in shelters etc. That was a no brainer for me. They are what got us through the hard times for the last few years.

Im pretty sure ill run out of gas before he does but one can try. I think ill cancel my gym membership and run him around the block and bench press him throughout the day:D

Philll sounds like you already have a new khat! congratulations! Glad they all get along well. I have a feeling ill have a lot of work with the alpha-dog transition if it ever happens but we will see?

Funny thing that alpha stuff. My daughter has the very large Catahoula and a very small hyper littler Terrier I think it is. The Terrier about the size of the Catahoula's head rules. Size apparently ain't everything.

LoL Bawanna, Some dogs (usually the bigger ones) just go along and don't sweat it. Sort of like humans where the tiny ones NEED to be in charge to make up for it so they work harder at it. However, should the smaller one ever push it too far, the Catahoula will make sure the terrier knows not to do that again and all will be peaceful once more.

Good to hear that Otis found paradise Ndoghouse :D Dogs deserve to be pampered, just not carried in purses (that is for pistols LOL) My old Cocker Terrier (16yo) used to get 1/4 lb patty of hamburger (cooked in her own special pan) 2 times a day LoL. and this was when I was going to college. Hubby and I were eating plain ramen and wondering if we would feel too guilty eating one of the dogs meals. Poor thing was diabetic and couldn't eat all the grain stuff in dog food these days, had cataracts and arthritis. Had to hand feed her the pills she took too. I don't know who ever made up that lie that dogs always swallow pills in food. Duchess used to eat everything on the plate then spit out the pills even if you packed it in cubes of cheese, blobs of peanut butter, or wadded into the hamburger. She would chew the bite a bit, spit out the pills and sit there looking at you like why would you put that inedible crap in my food??

Man I miss her.

Shav that is my dog all over again! The catahoula just knows when your trying to stuff a pill in something. Peanut butter meat...same thing? She will pretend to eat it then go outside nonchalantly and deposit it in the grass! Sometimes she will lay there for five minutes till we humans get distracted then spit it out secretly. If its a really important pill my wife gives it to me to give her because she knows Daddy dont give her pills. Ha! sometimes it works:thumbup: Ive lost a few to cancer and such and its hard but ya cant help loving another.
When the Otis has had enough it really funny he will just fall down on the little terrier and hold him down till he quits barking and growling then he lets him up like nothing happened. No biting from the pup so far. Hope it stays that way.

Thats a good looking pup for sure, kinda looks like an Otis dont he. Kinda got that "Who Me look". Hes gonna keep ya busy for sure, and grats on the new place, im sure mama's happy. I saw the sneaker too but figured it wasn't yours, too small.

Yep My daughter named after some cartoon character im sure but it does fit him.
I had to hide my bent leather shoes and my best Moroccan sandals up in a high spot last night so Otis wouldnt eat them:eek:
