HideAway Knife video

Thanks for help spreading the word, bro. More people should know about these neat little things.

I want one, but they can cost some serious coin, man.
I need to invest in a few more knives, because I obviously can't trust my BM auto...........(spring broke yesterday morning, I have barely used this knife)

Just buy the utility model for $70. Thats what I did. For a 440C knife, with a very nice kydex sheath, and that is custom fit to your hand, thats really not a bad deal.

One word the wise that I would like to tell people that at planning on buying a HideAway Kinfe is that I would make sure to get one of the models that has 4 holes around the capsule. I saw a couple of models on the websight that only have two, and I don't think I would have been happy with those. The reason for this is that the fitting on them is not perfect. On mine, with no paracord wrap, it was just a little bit big. with a full paracord wrap is was just a little too small. Either of them would have worked fine, but with the wrap only half way around, it is perfect. Perfect size, and increased grip the the paracord wrap offers. The wrap that is shown in the below pic on my HAK would not be possible if it only had two or three of the four holes like a few models have.

Yeah, the UHAK (Utility HideAwayKnife) is a great deal at $70-ish. 440c will be a fine steel for the tasks this little knife will be called upon for. That said, the other custom HAKs are worth the money. You won't easily find knives ground by Brum, Brock, Coogler, Strider, etc at those prices. They also make fantastic self-defense gifts for the people in your life. I gave my wife a Strider claw and she carries that everywhere with her.

FrontSight has created an outstanding design and hopefully with the press the latest Combat Tactics Magazine gives her, she will be able to expand her business!

The newer models have more holes for the paracord, but it is perfectly possible to wrap handles without the holes. I'd also advise people ot measure their fingers carefully. It really helps to have another person do it for you. Don't pull the paper tight and let FrontSight know if you want to use Paracord wrapping (she calculates a slightly different size if you do)

There are a couple models pictured on the site right now that only have the two holes on the opposite side of the capsule as the blade. I don't know how you'd get a cord wrap on a handle like that. At the very least its a lot easier with more holes.

Its not a huge deal, but it is something to think about, as I would deffinately reccomend the cord wrap option.

On the Hideawayknife site, under Skins, you will find the instructions for wrapping the HAK. At the bottom, there is a link to how to wrap HAKs that only have the two locator holes. Very easy to do.

The cord wrap is by personal preference. It gives a more cushioned feel to holding the knife, but does add thickness. I generally leave mine bare.

Still seams like it would be more of a pain in the ass without the holes, and less secure. And you'd have a tough time doing a full wrap if that is what you wanted.

just wondering, is the Hideaway considered a fixed blade knife legally speaking?

What else could it possibly be considered?

I have no legal background, but common sense leads me to believe that it is.

The HAK is an interesting beast from a legal perspective. Many places place a limit of 3" on the blade for legal carry, so it should be fine for most places.
However, since the "handle" goes around two fingers, it could be defined as a the equivalent of "brass knuckles" by an overzealous liberal DA (which most cities have way too many of), which are banned in some localities.

The fact that HAKs are insanely popular among soldiers, law enforcement, security professionals, and spooks should go a long way to defending this type of knife should you ever be unfortunate enough to be a defendant.

It is definitely more of a pain, but it is just as secure. The paracord ends aren't under a lot of unraveling strain. HAKs are great either way!

I wish I could afford to buy one. I told myself NO MORE charging stuff with the CCs........

ginshun, I liked your video more, because I didn't have to listen to any babble.

i would say if a FB is illegal in your area the fact that LEO's or "spooks" use it will have little/no bearing on an individual charged with an unlawfull weapons violation. i doubt ya would even be able to bring that up in court.

is a good point about the "knucks" though, i hadnt thought of that.
