Ok, I apologize if this topic has been exhausted, but I have a few questions for everyone:

I plan on purchasing a HAK soon, and I'm having a hard time deciding on a model. It will probably be my EDC for light utility and possible SD. I am leaning towards a straight model, due to funtionality and ease of sharpening. My budget is also tight, so I was thinking about the $69 Utility Model. I have not had great experiences with 440a, but this may be partly due to the heat-treating process. Should I save up and get a higher quality more "custom" model, or is this knife sufficient for the average user? Also, which knifemaker would you guys (and gals) recommend to go with? What kind of turn-around time should I be looking at?

Also, When you give FS your measurements, does she build them to fit with or without cord-wrapping?

I thank you in advance for the help, and apologize if my questions have already been answered elsewhere.

I'm sorry but your handle fits you to a "T" ;)

Stick with the straight, but I'd be inclined to go with a full custom one.

BTW, the measurement has enough leway that if you measure as she says, you can cord wrap later. If you want to have it cordwrapped for sure, let her know an she can adjust the measurements.

Thanks Steven! Just put in my order for a Strider Straight HAK. Can't wait! :D

Prepare yourself for a rather "long wait" :D :D It will be worth the wait though!

Unless you get lucky: and she has one in your size in "Available Now".

Good Luck

That's okay. The longer I wait, the better the payoff. Not to mention the fact that I will have time to save money rather than starve myself for a month. :)

Wait time isn't as bad as it used to be, check out the available now section of the site.
