I just saw that actor John Hillerman, who played Johnathan Higgins on Magnum P.I. has passed on. A loss of a great actor. Played an Englishman so well that some people actually thought he was a brit, endnote the native e born Texan that he was.

Loved that show growing up. He was also great in Blazing Saddles as Howard Johnson.

Some old Magnum trailers came on while I was re-watching some old movies recently, and there was Higgins, provoking indignant responses in his usual, oh so precise way. Absolutely perfect casting. Stars somehow might not shine as brightly unless they are cast with such a perfect foil. John Hillerman was so memorable and enjoyed in every role he played.

I remember when Magnum first came out, I was I think a freshman in high school. I always got mad at Higgins--didn't he know how cool and awesome Magnum was? Now, 30 years later, I see reruns and I take Higgins side most of the time!

How we once rolled our eyes at who we are now :D !
