Get some gun oil on a piece of cloth and rub it off. Be gentle though to not affect the pattern. The carbon damascus blades are only used in CRK's older models, and I believe it was for the higher contrast.

CRK used Devin Thomas damascus on many of their knives. Devin Thomas is one of the best damascus makers to my knowledge and the demand was there to use his high carbon damascus for the knives.

Some soap and elbow grease should get it off.

I have had to deal with rust on Damascus steel blades. I have found that a product like Zud will clean it up without causing too many problems. Just take it slow and be careful. I restored a couple that were seriously corroded and they look good.

After you have cleaned it adequately, you probably want to coat the blades with something like Renaissance Wax, or a light oil.

Those rust spots should wear off when you use the knife, just ad some oil and cycle the blade a few times.

I had that on a ZDP-189. Tape it off to protect the pattern, use some break free on 2500 wet/dry sandpaper and then keep it lightly oiled in the future, you won't have any trouble with a spreading issue. Not like rust on an inner panel (under paint) on a car.
That pivot/washer area abraids contnually as the knife cycles then if it sits....rust. Keep it lightly oiled (gun oil, knife oil, even WD-40)

WD-40 is made for displacing water, while it may work on mild rust, it won't clear it up. Go to Wal-mart, dick's or sports authority and get some Break-Free CLP, it's an amazing cleaner and rust preventer. I have actually had my full stainless Sig 229 in salt water with it as a protectant and it help up without a single spec! (obviously it was cleaned and re-lubed with CLP)....but at $3.50 or so, I bet $20 it will clear all your rust up and prevent any future!
