High Desert Hunter - Cord Wrap

Before this gets moved, I wonder if you could tell me the best way to clean that cord wrap once it gets bloody, with little pieces of guts, meat and fat that have worked down into it? I've always wondered about that on cord-wrapped hunters.

Thanks--nice simple, efficient profile.

Dish soap. One of these that had been in use for months, several elk & deer, just came back into the shop. It was a raffle for the Outdoor Show. I sharpened and used a dish brush and soap, looked brand new. One guide in Utah has cleaned up and skinned over 40 elk and deer, and it looked new.

I don't hunt, but have used cord wrap for years on my necker and field knife. Always in the dirt, cook stuff, etc. Cleans right up.

Thank you. So is the cord wrap epoxy-impregnated or something to keep blood and gore from soaking into the fiber permanently?

You can epoxy, I do that for mine. If that is a big concern, then go with micarta or wood. The G-10 works well also. I have 14 in the woods right now and have not heard of a single problem.
