High-end 110 regular model?

Pete's shop, when it returns, will of course be a cool way to get a unique quality knife. But what if I want a using knife that's just a lockback with good steel, and doesn't have to be a $100+ one-of-a-kind collector's item?

Could there ever be a 110 with good steel and maybe slightly fancier handle slabs that was a regular production model?

If a 110 with s30v or ats34 steel and some finer grained wood were popular enough to keep selling, how much less would it be than a custom-ordered similar knife from Pete's?

Have you checked out the Cabelas Alaskan 110? I don't know about the handle, whether its more upscale, but the blade is certainly a high quality steel. Its about $60.00.

The custom shop used to swap out blades, for a price, if you sent in a 110. I forget the exact price that they charged. (They kept the old blade btw.) Seems like it was around $30 or $35. So add in the price of a Buck 110, and you're looking at a price around that of the Alaskan at Cabelas.

I have one Buck 110 into which I had an ATS-34 blade installed. Man, that is one sharp knife.

If Pete's still offers the service when it reopens, I thought about sending in a regular, finger-grooved model and seeing about an S30V blade. If Cabelas offered a finger-grooved version of the Alaskan, I'd probably just go for it.

Hmm, that's interesting. The wood looks red, not too fancy but at least different.

I wish it wasn't a Cabela's exclusive because that makes me think I am paying too much, but on the other hand that's cheaper than the custom shop which I think starts at $65 for no mods (or free mods).

I guess that mostly answers my question. Maybe it would be a little cheaper if it were available to all dealers, but at least I know it isn't $80 which is how much a standard 110 plus an ATS34 blade costs.

Standard 110 (around here anyways) = $30.
Add $30-ish for blade swap (if possible still).

$60-$65 for a regular 110 with ATS-34. That's what I paid IIRC.

You would not be disappointed with the Cabela's Alaskan Guide Series 110. It is quite a knife for the price. I own many Buck 110's. The Cabela's knife is a hundred dollar knife without the hundred dollar price.
