Hi Guys,

Just getting into the knife hobby here, and would really appreciate some help. I am specifically looking for a high end assisted open knife that is not made by Benchmade, Kershaw, Zero Tolerance, SOG, or CRKT. Does this even exist? The following are my knife selection criteria (not rigid, all suggestions are very welcome):

-Price: max $400, ideally less than $250
-full metal construction
-blade between 3" and 4"
-the lighter the better (no 6 ounce behemoths)
-I am definitely into the "tactical" look

I am looking for something that, when handled, induces a bit of the wow factor. I want the knife to be a little piece of precision engineering. I currently have a Protech Ciabatta and a Kershaw Shallot on the way, to give you guys a bit of an idea of what I'm into. I would definitely be looking into automatics if they were legal, but sadly they are not, as I live in Canada.

There are many high end folder out there that I really like, but most lack the assisted open feature that I so desperately want (I just love the gadget factor). Does the knife I'm looking for exist? Maybe a semi custom? Thanks a lot for the help!

Nick

Thanks for the responses, guys. Any other suggestions?

I just found an awesome knife that fits my criteria, only it lacks the spring assist and isn't made anymore :-( the Microtech SOCOM Elite

DDR creations. That's about it until you want to spend some serious money on Ken Onion customs with speedsafe.
