So I can't vouch for the quality of the recent influx of apparent high end China manufactured knives but from what I can tell they seem legit.

I just can't shake the thought of if some one in China will produce knock offs of a home brand.

I don't want to mention any companies here I believe most people here know what I'm talking about. I also don't want to say these companies are bad or that the Chinese manufacturing is bad (people everywhere gotta eat). I do feel that passing someone's else's work off as your own for profit is in terrible taste and I won't support it. I don't even like the " they aren't stealing any customers from them with junk like that" saying. It's not yours don't profit from it.

That being said... Will it be done? Will we see blatant thieving of high-end Chinese knives or have we already?

Will the companies be able to fight this in their own country or is it even illegal to do this to your brother in a communist country?

Curious... Your thoughts?

No offense intended. Unless you are a thief then by all means be offended I don't care.

I cant say whether or not you will see chinese ripping off the chinese. In other words I have not seen replicas of kizer, Reate or carson. Carson I believe is only a matter of time. The other two im simply not sure. It wouldnt surprise me though. I remember when A dai made the 0777 clone and shortly after that wild boar made a copy of their copy. In all honesty though its hard to say. In the past it seemed only the most popular designs would be replicated. The sebbies and the XMs. But now they are replicating even the most obscure customs. I normally would say that it depend on how popular the brands above get. But that doesnt seem to be the motivation. They have replicated designs that many dont know about. This could be so unsuspecting people wont know its a replica but at that rate if you arent relying on popularity of a design to move a product you might as well design one yourself.

as to the legality and whether or not anyone will fight it? I highly highly doubt it. Its very very expensive to protect intellectual property and in many cases the rewards for doing so dont outweigh the cost of investment.

I bought a few a while back. They are definitely good knives, not really close in quality to the real deal but they seem to be worth more than what i payed. I won't buy again just because i did feel bad after i got them and thought about it. Im not gonna preach on ethics or anything but id rather save up and support the maker who comes up with the art. I just received a mid-tech knife from the maker and the satisfaction is much higher. I think anybody who is really in love with knives might feel the same even if they give into temptaion one or twice. Now that i have the knockoffs i feel i will save up and aquire the real deal eventually for balance.
