i was just wondering how busse knives compare with other high end knives, like striders, and mad dog knives. i am new here and dont see where this has been discussed before so if it has, sorry.

This is a thread that could go nuclear!

I would put Busse knives up against any. INFI, Jerry's heat treat, the design and the execution put Busse in a class by themselves. Mad Dog and Strider make very good knives but for me, I would take a Busse.

...and thanks to INFI, the heat treat and the way the man (J. Busse) stands behind his company and customers, there is no comparison - Busse is the best.

I suggest you try one on for size!

Welcome aboard champ!

I've never handled any Striders but I have played with a Mad Dog or two. Mad Dogs are nice but I like the handles on Busses better.
Even the Basics have a better feel IMO:)
They are both supposed to be excellent knives from everything I've read, but along with everything mentioned above (especially Jerry's warrantee:)) you can't go wrong with a Busse:D

Champ,
Welcome to the Busse forum, glad you stopped by.

I've not owned any MD or Striders, handled several Striders and the Cord-wrapped handles didn't do it for me.

As others have said I think the combination of the INFI, Heat treat and warranty that Busse has make them the best in the business. The micarta handles are extremely durable and can hold up to anything.

Also Busse is a company that has a long history and will stand behind the knife if there ever are any concerns. Though other companies may claim to have strong warranties, look at the company and who has been around and who is going to be around in 20 years, the warranty won't be worth much if the company isn't there to service it. Busse has that history.

You may want look at actual testing data from all the companies (testing not testimonials) and see what they can do.

Here are some links to tests performed on Busses.

And then check Cliff Stamps Webpage for additional tests that he has done. http://www.physics.mun.ca/~sstamp/knives/index.html

You may also want to do a search in the Archives as the Busse vs. Mad Dog issue has been brought up before.

I think I have some more links to testing and will post them when I find them.
