I've seen a half dozen of these patterns sold on Ebay recently. Each time they go higher than before. The 36OT seems to command a high price consistently, especially for a smaller size pocket knife.

Of the Old Timers and Uncle Henry knives that were made, not including Schrade Waldens, which ones does everyone else think is rare? From what I've seen in less than a year of observing:

36OT
44OT
106OT
77UH
877UH
706UH
77OT - not rare, but very popular and bring a good price

These patterns seem to consistently pull a pretty good price. Any other ideas of which ones you would consider rare? I'm not as familiar with the fixed blades, but I'd like to see opinions on them as well.

What about that single blade serpentine liner lock - 197UH "Cat's Paw"? Usually goes sky high when one pops up at auction!

I forgot that one Kevin. It's even a favorite of mine. That pattern was shot lived.

Thats a lotta cash but it is a cool knife and I would love to have one! My only problem is the lotta cash thing. Joel

Nice. And I don't have one. There are many UH and OT patterns less common, as far as years produced. But this single blade rendition of the 897UH evidently wasn't a big seller. My birthday this year is two days before Christmas, the day before Henry Baer's.

I like the 61ot and the 93ot and I agree with you on the 44ot I try to buy every one I see on ebay and the 98ot ramrod I believe? all ones you dont see very often and still bring a good price and 36ot I forgot to mention. Joel

Another short lived & great pattern is the 123OT.
It is basically a 4" version of the 125OT. It was made from 1984 to 1988.

D&B, I have a 707DU Canada that I'd be perfectly happy to trade you for the Flyway set;)

Michael, very effective grovel with birthday and Christmas in the same sentence:D

Eric,
While the 707DU is a sweet knife, I think I'd need at least a 36OT thrown in to complete that deal :D . I've recently decided to refine my collecting to LB7 type knives. I really want to focus on knives that I like and finally came to a decision to focus on LB7's, Buck 101's and the like. I'm really debating throwing the Flyway set up for auction and then parlaying that into a ton of LB7's, 7OT's, etc. Tough decision for me to make though as I've never seen another complete set other than what I have.

Oh, if only collecting knives was easy..................

All right all right, I'll throw in the 36OT too, damn you drive a hard bargain!:D That is quite a set, first complete I've seen as well. I occassionaly see a knife at a time on auction, but even that's not very often. Very Nice!

Eric

PS- To get back on the subject, what was the number of the dagger style OT that came out very early on. I've only seen one , in fairly decent shape, way back before I knew what they were. Probably could have picked it up for a few bucks at the time:grumpy:

Michael

Is your birthday always two days before Christmas, or just this year?;)

I do have two of those Catpaw knives, so if you maintain your status in the Clean Plate Club, don't pick on your sister, and do what your mom tells you, Santa might come through.

Heck, Hal, my birthday is always on the first of January and I've done all of those things you mentioned. I even let my wife have cats in the house!:p

Hmmm a New Years baby? I am a Jan. 2 baby myself.

We'll see if you might get an etched blade LB-7 with fancy scrolled bolsters in your stocking. Of course it would be for your birthday too. I'll bet no one ever forgot it was your birthday. I''ll bet Micheal will vouch for the huge benefits as a kid of having a birthday butted up against the major gift giving holiday.

That is, if his birthday was on Dec 23rd back then.:D

Yep, I always got the combination birthday/Christmas gifts. Do you suppose Michael was around before the change of the conventional calendar, thus allowing for the change of dates with regards to his birthday? :p

Eh?
you think 197UH is rare in the USA?

try finding one in the UK

I got one, but it is very used........ but the lock still works great.

I would like a mint one............the search goes on.

I have a 61OT mint in old grand fathers brown box..Have not seen,or been looking for one on ebay to know what they are worth..Any ideas..Thanks

Both of the completed 61OT's that are still in there went pretty cheap, less than $20. They used to be about 3 times that.

I bought a 61OT, 93OT, 93OT, and 285UH back before Christmas. Paid 42.00 for the 61OT, then found out the guy had a bunch of others. I got the other three for $120.00. All mint in the Brown Box. Lucked out (by recent standards anyway). All of these patterns will probably be harder and harder to get. Any of these in the original brown box are getting $60.00 - $90.00 if they show up for auction. These three OT's always get plenty of attention.

This is a 61OT I had Muskrat Man custom handle. Polished Elk Antler. It is a 61OT with the tang stamp ground off.
