Does anyone know a knife company or a custom knifemaker that makes traditional Spanish navajas that a person could trust his/her life to? There are several companies in Spain and elseware that make them, but I don't know how to tell whether the knives are high quality or junk! Help!

The Muella line as imported by CAS Iberia ot Sale Creek Tenn has a very large line of Navajas going up over a $1000.00 retail They are very good quality. I don't know of any internet dealers who handle them. You can call the company direct at (800)635-9366 I hope this helps.

The new Crawford-Kasper Perfigo, is a custom built, high end knife designed along the lines of the Spanish Navaja. It has the Spanish Navaja Knife fighting concept in mind when it was designed. You might want to have a look at it. "Perfigo" means to cut or perforate with a knife.

An example of an antique Spanish Navaja:

You can try this site for modern versions to purchase, which I found doing a Google search:

Like The Avenger stated, Muela does offer several Navaja models ranging from cheap to good quality expensive models.

Others Spanish brands to look at are:
Nieto
Cuchillería Sáez López
Cuchillería Andújar
Artesanía Exposito (definately check out this brand!)

You can go to www.aceros-de-hispania.com and check out several well known Spanish brands. Prices are listed in Euros, but you'll see stuff from the inexpensive pocket folders to the expensive navajas and hunting/survival blades.

www.cutlerytogo.com also carries several Spanish brands.

Thanks for your help, guys. It is sometimes difficult to distinquish between quality and junk on the net. I will look through your suggestions. I'd already working on my wife over a Perfigo, and will consider others too.

Thanks again! Any other info would be greatly appreciated.
