Does anyone know of any high quality Pantographic knives (paratrooper knives) that are available? I've seen the knives by United Cutlery, but I was wondering if there are any high quality ones out there? Are there any custom knife makers that have made these?

I've been into collecting knives for a while. I'm mainly into Balisongs, but I have a really old paratrooper knife that I got when I was young. I was fascinated with it at the time. I recently ran across it in the back of my knife drawer and it's resparked my curiosity in them. I've searched on google for a little bit but I didn't run across anything that I would consider high a quality one.

I hope this is the right forum for this post. I thought about posting it in the "Traditional Folders and Fixed Blades" forum, but it's not really a traditional folder.

Thanks in advance for any info,

I don't know about customs, but the only knives in that style that are widely avaiable are the:

1) Indian/Pakistani knives with fake Nazi markings.

2) The 80's imports- Fury, United, Valor, etc.....

3) The Smith/Wesson Power Glide.

:).

If you want to get a little crazy about it check out this Custom Strider/Dwyer ShroudCutter. I'm not sure if it falls into the Paratrooper set but it would be awefully useful to someone who parachutes.

picture is stolen from HKSIG45's ad to sell the first one made by Duane that I just picked up. Man he's got some neat stuff.

That's for the info guys.

I'll have to check into the S&W Power Glide.

Oilman: That Strider/Dwyer ShroudCutter looks really cool

I got one a while back. Kinda cool, better made than I expected, too, as long as you don't mind plastic! It's not really a traditional pantograph knife; on those, the blade was long compared to the handles, on the S&W, it's kinda short. That's cos the maker extended the handles with a shroud, so that the grip's the same whether open or closed; makes for less blade, but a much more comfortable grip than the more "authentic" (design-wise, at least) Frost one I also have.

I also have a Smith & Wesson Power glide knife. If you ask me, it feels way more solid than some of my other folding knives, but then again I havent toyed with it long enough to determine its strength haha.

Hey, if money is no object, I am sure you could commision a custom Knife maker to produce a one-off custom.

I like the sound of that... I'm sure Reese Weiland can do one up for me.

It's 2017, has no one made a decent pantographic knife in all this time?
