The headmaster of the Primary School where both my son's are stopped me in the car park this morning with the news that my eldest had passed the highschool entrance exams with a good grade. He sat them a year early in the upperset.

It has been one long year and wow, he can take it easy until next year.

Congratulations. I hope you can do something nice for your son (like buy him a knife?)

Took him shooting this afternoon with air rifle. Brought him home a Lego Bionicle. Knife, I will be taking him on my next trip to South Africa and let him choose. That reminded me that he doesn't need to sit year end exams! My youngest doesn't do exams yet so I think it is a huge weight off my shoulders.

Thanks

Excellent news Tim! Please wish him for me.......;)
What matric do they write in Gabz?

There is the national Matric form 5 or can choose to go onto UK system (already chosen) and do O levels at form 4 Alevels at form 6. Accellerated each a year early. He should go into the paced class to do the accelerated program.

The national Matric is of a high standard, above OZ and South Africa,,, but since most world civilians say "Where's Botswana?". That causes problems applying for University.

I never figured out the British education system, but I understand enough to know the exams are quite rigorous. Congrats to you and your boy.

I've been through the British ed system. I still don't understand it.

I did:

Form 4 O's, prerequisite to do A’s

Form 5 M's, voluntarily (mum’s persuasion), to prequalify for a South African University then:

A's to qualify for UK Universities in form 6.

Peter aka Pops will be doing O’s and A’s (hopefully would be up to Black belt in Judo) to get into UK or USA universities if he wants. Most South African University standards have dropped making registration to international associations far more difficult and far longer.

Or he can go onto making knives, art, what ever he wants when he leaves school. I am giving him the platform to make the choice.

Glad to hear it...Our current standard is horrible. Varsity is the key to flexibility.Give me a PM if you ever head my way

Thanks I will do so. I am expected to spend (with family) Christmas week in George and in Christmas day in Claremont?? Capetown. Extended Family has been giving serious headaches on arraingements so we might take a duck and avoid Christmas stress by cuddling some Guiness at home.
