I'm looking for something like the al mar eagle, or mcusta knives except a better value. I'm sure they're great knives, I just don't have that much to spend. Things like the Mini Dejavoo, Benchmade 440, and some of the lone wolf knives.

Don't really have to be traditional, but just on the far side away from tacticool. preferably still having a clip.

I would check out the Benchmade Red Class knives and the Spyderco Byrd line. Both these manufacturers are turning out some good quality, lower priced models.

Oh, come, there must be someone awake at this hour. (04:07 Eastern Daylight Time) :)

How about Kershaw?

Centofante/Onions around $50
Double Cross or Double Duty around $50

I have carried a Kershaw Double Duty for around five years and find it classy and functional. I like having the two blades because I can use one for the tasks that gunk up my knife while still having one in reserve for detail work. No clip though.

Typically tactical looking knives bore me to no end, and so I am happy to give you a number of suggestions.

Here's one knife which I do think fits all your needs. The Maserin Touch Line Olive. It's only 47.95 pounds at Heinnie. I have 2 other Maserins, and I do think they are very well made. A bit of italian flair in your life, why not !

Here is a smaller (2" blade) knife that fits your needs, also from Italy. It's actually a small version of the Spyderco Volpe which Fox produced for Spyderco. The Fox mini spy:

My other suggestions are not 100% in line with all your requirements, but still interesting...

For example, continueing to explore the italian connection, do consider the affordable Viper Inox Olive. I have it, it's lovely, but it doesn't have a clip:

At the higher price limit, the Fallkniven model P (I once played with it and loved it but can't remember if it has a clip):

Affordable and good looking (but I never handled it, so it's just from observation), the Magnum Earl (without a clip):

Not one-hand, nor with a clip, but really nice (that's real abalone), well made, so very non-tactical, and incredibly cheap is the Magnum Treasure. I love mine and everyone goes "ooh" and "aah" when they fondle it :

And I can't resist to bring another affordable non-tactical, non-clip two hand favourite of mine to the table. The Eka Masur is incredible:

enjoy...

wow, those are beautiful, thanks. I'd forgotten all about the falkniven folders. Now to try and find maserin...

I found these on newgraham by santa fe stoneworks and think i might try something similar. Delica 4 really does have quite classical lines.

Try a Kershaw Splinter. (Bottom Red Knife) Very well made knife and super affordable. You can get one with Quince wood for around $80.00

Munky88,

That santa fe stoneworks delica conversion is indeed special but on a different price level as well, and if you're prepared to spend that money, I do think you owe it to yourself to also examine certain more upmarket mcusta knives, such as the splendid damascus tactility models.

Another suggestion in that price range is a wonderful, wonderful one-hand opening backlock laguiole variation from the master artisans of Fontenille-Pataud. Pictured here with a horn tip handle:

Or, for bit more, a one-hand backlock gentlemen laguiole from the same brand: stronger, with a shorter blade. I have it without the one hand opening and it's marvelous. For example:

For Maserin, check for example here:

(But of course the one that I suggested isn't listed)
I found it on www.heinnie.com but that's in UK.

If you do not like the tactical look but want a terrific S30V blade and a very nice design, I would go for a Lone Wolf Harsey, probably a T2 with drop-point blade. It has an ageless classic look, a fool-proof (unless you are really a fool) liner-lock and a wide choice of handle materials, my favorite being the black & green micarta. They have been discontinued but many online stores still have inventory. Just avoid TheBladeShop and Taclighting, please.

I was actually thinking i would get some classy looking linen micarta and do it myself. Took my delica apart the other day and it looks quite do-able if instead of hiding the liners i can polish them.

t-1 in rosewood is nice. though is still a little much. Idealy i was looking for a "How is something so nice so cheap" type of knife.

Here, I'm here to vouch for kershaw. Kershaw nakamura or whatever they call it. It's sleek and attractive.

EDIT: Already been mentioned by riffraff..

I don't have anything from them but look at Mcusta.

Now that I think about it: look HERE for really good prices on damascus-style mcustas. I think that for example this one for a tiny bit less than $100 should please you a lot:

...

Mr. Dagon,

I really like the Viper Inox Olive, another great suggestion.

I just found a similar Viper knife, scales of African Bocote, on Cabela's website, for $39.77 (USD)
