As the rain finally stops here in the North East and the sun shines bringing the temps into the high 60's; I wanted to get out doors. It was either go fishing solo, or take the family for a nice hike. I opted for some family time , but decided to hike along my favorite trout river. Usually it is a small slow moving river or stream, but with the crazy amounts of rain we had it gre to twice its size. Most of the spots I would normally fish from are completely flooded, but I did find some new spots. I also saw some trout activity that had me wanting to break the law and grab my gear early...
Anyway, I took alot of pics, many of plants that are starting to pop up. I will let you guess what they are, many you should know by now.

Enjoy.

Here's a short video of the trout activity that got me all excited.

And here is a pic of a non survivor of a flash flood.

More to come.

The never ending fight against the higly invasive Japanse Barberry..

And here are some early spring plants that you all may know.

This one I am actually not sure on, so if you do know it. Please tell.

Still a few more

Still don't know that last 1, here is a hint.

I will leave you with some color.

Great pictures, looked like a real nice day for a hike.

The water is real high here as well (MA.) but fortunately no dead animals.

Wow you are way north of me and the blooroot isn't up yet here and the ramps are only barely up.

Is that a piebald deer or is the fur just rotted off??

Great pics as per usual Tony. Always love to see your neck of the woods.

I thought it was wierd it was up as well. The Trillium isn't up yet over here either...

The deer's fur is rotting off, still a lil left. The wind swirled one time giving us a good whiff..:barf:

Great pics Tony. Two questions - which knives got to come out to play and how old is your little girl? Seems several around, me included, have young daughters.

Thanks, The Skookum Bushtool got the call today. In the pack was a folding saw, and in my pocket was a Victorianox Farmer:thumbup:

My daughter is 5 going on 20....;)

Yeah, either is the Garlic Mustard, but those plants don't bother me:D

Yeah the one that is bad down here is the stilt grass. It was choking out the ginseng and goldenseal last year in my woods:thumbdn:

PS I just got done bottling up a batch of melomel made with the wineberries!

what are the ones by the frothing creek there? Is that like immature skunk cabbage or some sort of Lilly or what??? The ones that are sticking up sort of like ramps but bigger and lighter colored?

This one?

Skunk Cabbage it is. Allthough False Hellebore does grow in the same area..

Looks like the trout were teasing you bro :D .... also I much prefer to see pics of the gorgeous ladies in your life than some of those scary looking fellas you sometimes hang in the woods with ;)
