Hey guys. It seems like the 112 has been getting a lot of attention lately and I'm going to keep that ball rolling. Until I got my stag 110 back yesterday (not all that happy with it) I was carrying a ranger again. I only have a standard model for now but would like to change that. I'd like to know if anyone has gotten a stag version from C&C, the lil Jack from SK or something from the custom shop, and what you think about it. My knife goal is to get nicer versions (different steel and handle materials) of my favorites which are the 110, 112 and 501. I've already got some nicer 110's so time to move on to the 112 and 501. If you guys have any experiences you'd like to share I'd appreciate it....and feel free to show pictures :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Love my lil Jack from skblades and love the 110 equivalent. The d2 steel and nickel silver look great. And the cocobolo is beautiful. The combination is very interesting.

Nothing to share, JD. I just want email notifications on this thread. Thanks for starting it! :)

I've really been thinking about the lil Jack. Looks nice and the price is decent. How is the D2 to sharpen?

And welcome to the forums by the way :thumbsup::thumbsup:

I don't know how the d2 sharpens because those buck knives don't see use because they are part of my buck collecting knives, but the blades are bucks factory razor sharp edge.

JD, I haven't had to sharpen my 118 with D2...but, my BM Mini-Grip is D2 is not difficult to sharpen. I use a Norton IB8 Combo Stone and a Sharpmaker, D2 takes and holds a good edge. Preston

Thanks Preston. I have a mini grip with D2 as well and it's not bad at all on just a sharpmaker. I've just heard that it can be a pain sometimes. The 112 with D2 seems like a really nice knife so I might have to try it. Don't know if I want to wait for s30v from the custom shop....

I've been thinking about a custom shop 112 with S30V also, but wanted to wait until I checked out a finger grooved version. If I don't like the finger grooves more than my plain 112, I'll grab that D2 112 just because it's flat ground... and D2.

I went through the same thing with my custom 110, and I didn't get finger grooves but wish I did. The flat ground blade sounds pretty good too....

I got a stag 112 and 110 from copper and clad and I've been very happy with them. I think the steel is still the standard 420HC though.

I liked my Custom Shop 112 (oak scales. S30V) so much I bought one for my BIL, walnut scales. Superb fit and finish, great steel. Almost too pretty to use, but mine is now my EDC.

I have a D2 118 and it held a razor edge thru processing a big wild boar. ..The D2 Lil'Jack is the only 112 ever made with D2 that I know of and would be worthy Buck to customize. There were a few DP S30V 112's made a few years ago but are hard to find and not cheep when you do find them. I really like finger grooves on the 112 as I think it looks good and helps you get a good grip with tough cutting chores.

Christiantrevor I think the thinned Lil'Jack is a coolest 112 I've seen in a long, long time. .The only thing I would want is a drop point blade. So far I've resisted sending mine off because I need it for my 112 display but I might get a second one for the future. So many really nice limited 112's have come out in the last 2 years. ...
