Highlander Bowie UC627 Question

I have one of Gil Hibben's Highlander UC627 with the hex nut on the handle. I've been told that the nut makes this one rare and part of only about 1000 produced around 1992 or 1993. Can anyone vaildate this and provide any additional information? Also what it may be worth?
