anybody own one of these japanese straight razors? its a neat little knife but i dont see any viable way to carry this thing for outdoor fun. i could simply just wrap a rubber band around it and shove it into my pocket but im curious if any one has fashioned a leather belt pouch or maybe a kydex neck sheath for this thing :)

Got the large one with chromed handle , SK steel and Miyamoto Musashi inscription.
Had a problem with the blade opening in the pocket and closing when in use, and the steel microchipping on ceramics, but I fixed it both.

I tapped the top part of the handle with a hammer so it would hold the blade tighter when open. This is manly trail and error so do it carefully.
To stop the blade from opening on its own and the edge from hitting the bottom of the handle it needed some more hammer work. Basically I made the gap where the blade goes into the handle narrower, so it would hold the blade snug.

To stop the chipping I switched to Carborundum, India and Arkansas stones.

hmmm i'll try tapping it closed tighter to hold the blade more snugly...
im still a bit reluctant to stick it in the pocket lol

not sure if its worth having a custom leather sheath or kydex rig made for it as its not a knife that i would take out often (mainly for fun. i would just like to enjoy taking it out without having to wrap a rubber band around it (which ive lost and had to use duct tape to keep it from cutting things in my bag).

I used to carry one of these for everything back a year or two ago. I would shave with it(would usually require a quick sharpening/touch up), break down boxes, cut rope and hoses, baton branches of fallen trees, pry apart a bunch of things, ect. I tapped the pin with a hammer like the above poster said to stop blade play, however in my year+ of carrying it I never ran into any problems of it opening in my pocket.

Some of them come with pouches, some even attach to the knife itself:
