Higonokami Off Center, Scraping Side

I just got another Higonokami, this one has the tanto tip (Stated as "Sword Blade") instead of the reverse tanto, it is one of the "Large' Sized ones, with a black parkerized brass handle

The blade lays off center when folded shut, and when closing the heel and flat of the blade scratches against it - which when facing the blade from holding position so you see the spine while opened and holding it, the right side is being scraped, or if you are looking directly into the folded handle when closed, it would be the left side.

It is not in any way loose so it is not caused by a loose pivot like my SK steel one was, which I tightened with a hammer and that fixed the problem all together

I need a solution to this and am open to advice of any kind

Would you be able to place the pivot in a padded vice jaw, handle up, blade in the vice jaw opening at 90° and pull the handle slightly in the direction you would like it to go?

It is brass, and shouldn't be That hard to nudge one way or the other.
------
Have you laid the handle on a straight edge to see if the handle is already bent?

I was going to say roughly the same thing.
They're made a little rough and you can usually beat them into proper shape rather easily.

You can actually bend the blade itself if you have to. It's pretty easy to persuade the blades on those, in my experience.

What is the best place to clamp and best place to apply pressure?

I thought this was what I should do I just don't usually like to do something so possibly destructive even to a cheap knife without getting some second opinions first - at least the first time I decide I want to fix it.

Thanks for the advice and reassurances.

Has anybody here ever got one of those S55C steel ones?

Just clamp it so the vise jaws (preferably aluminum or leather padded) are flush with the spot you want to bend. It actually takes surprisingly little pressure to bend the laminated blades. I've only done it once, but had a crooked one come into the shop once and while it failed inspection (and so went up on the site as a "Grade B" item) it took me literally just a few seconds to correct it.
